SmartColour Demonstrations at FUSE 2008 Help Brand Owners Accurately Predict Colors on Different Packaging Substrates
Thursday 10. April 2008 - Brand owners and designers visiting the SmartColour booth at FUSE 2008, will learn how they can select and match colors on a variety of substrates and maintain the same color in their designs that they view on the computer screen with the final packaged product on retailer shelves.
Visitors to the booth will see demonstrations of SmartColour, a portfolio of color management offerings that takes the guesswork out of predicting the outcome of spot color on a given substrate to provide the consistent, predictable color brand owners require.
The suite of products provides true brand color on the computer screen, in design mock-ups and prepress proofs, and on presswhich virtually guarantees that customers will see the exact brand colors on store shelves. It avoids proofs and costly reprints, and saves customers a lot of time and expense.
“Every brand owner knows that accurate reproduction of brand colors on product packaging is critical not only to the integrity of the brand, but to product sales,” said Iain Pike, Business Leader Color Management, SmartColour. “Brand owners often have to manage wide portfolios of spot colors to maintain consistent brand color on labels, pouches, metallized surfaces, cartons and any number of additional packaging structures. SmartColour reduces the need for lengthy, error-prone color matching and management processes. The result is improved brand integrity, which translates directly into faster time to market and improved sales at the consumer level.”
SmartColour to Provide Color Expertise on Panel at FUSE
Iain Pike will speak as a panelist at FUSE on April 16 from 1:15 to 1:55 p.m. about the importance of brand color management in packaging.
During the panel discussion, Pike will talk about the importance of brand color management in packaging. Part of the discussion will be about how important color is to a brand. Pike will also talk about why brand owners should have a color that they can call their own, and how they can ensure that color is consistent on multiple packaging substrates.
New SmartColour iVue (Version 2.1) Enhances Demonstrations at FUSE
At FUSE, attendees who witness the SmartColour demonstration will see it with a new version of iVue, a Photoshop plug-in that allows packaging developers to see real color end results anywhere in their workflow.
iVue relies upon the massive SmartColour color database of real ink colors, on common packaging substrates printed by relevant printing processes allowing users to consider multiple alternatives to deliver a specified brand color on one or more packaging materials.
Some of the new SmartColour iVues enhancements include: improved rendering performance (speed and image resolution) for faster on-screen and printed review of spot color results, enhanced spot-color overprint modeling to better predict on-press overprint results, and smarter gamut mapping for improved calculation of brand color performance in print or on-screen.
