Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex Enters Personal Care Market
Wednesday 02. April 2008 - Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex today announced plans to enter the personal care ingredient market during 2008 with a new platform of emulsion-based polymers designed for the cosmetics industry. This patented technology, targeted to cosmetic chemists and formulators of personal care products and cosmetics, is the result of several years of research at Dow Reichholds advanced polymer facility in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
“Were excited about bringing this new polymer technology to the personal care market,” Jeffrey Welker, president of Dow Reichhold, said. “The personal care and cosmetic market is extremely innovative, showing a continual stream of new product introductions, which aligns well with our commitment to the same.”
The technology behind the new initiative for the cosmetics industry is based on work led by Dr. Venkataram Krishnan, director of advanced product development at Dow Reichhold. His research team identified unique functional characteristics in these newly developed polymers that will add multiple attributes when employed across a wide range of bath and shower, skin and hair care products. Based on those attributes, the company is already working with a number of formulators in preparation for new product introductions.
“Our goal is to enable a new generation of personal care products based on the unique functionality and properties of this family of advanced polymers,” Dr. Krishnan explained. “We are encouraged by what others have to say about our polymers.”
