BASF to raise prices for two styrenic plastics types in Europe
Friday 28. March 2008 - As of April 1, 2008, BASF will be raising prices in Europe for the styrenic plastics commodity Terluran (ABS: acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer) by 70 euros per metric ton. At the same time the prices for the styrenics plastics specialty Luran (SAN: styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer) will be increased by the same amount.
The sharp increases in raw material and energy costs in the first quarter of the year are forcing BASF to make price adjustments for these products to attain appropriate margin levels again.
Terluran is used wherever components have to meet high requirements in terms of surface quality and gloss, for example, in the household and electrical realms or in communications technology. Thanks to its transparency and chemical resistance, Luran has been used successfully for years in the house¬hold and electronics sectors, in cosmetics packaging and for office articles.
