Oce Introduces Oce CS9160 Eco-Solvent Printer
Wednesday 26. March 2008 - High Quality Indoor and Outdoor Printer for Any Environment
Oce, an international leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, today introduced the Oce CS9160 printer that uses Eco-solvent inks to create indoor and outdoor-durable prints. The Oce CS9160 printer will be on display in the Oce booth #436 at the ISA International Sign Expo in Orlando, FL, March 27-29, 2008.
Building on the success of its predecessor the Oce CS9060 model, the 64-inch wide Oce CS9160 printer provides proven reliability, superior print quality and increased productivity. It offers expanded ink capacity with the ability to use 440 ml cartridges. With 440 ml of ink always on-line, productivity is increased because ink change-outs are halved compared to printers using standard 220 ml cartridges. The Oce CS9160 delivers improved print speeds over the Oce CS9060, without sacrificing quality. Print speeds of up to 197 square feet per hour at 720 x 720 dpi are achievable.
The Oce CS9160 is a high quality, environmentally safe and easy-to-use system that offers the ability to produce both indoor and outdoor-durable prints. It is ideal for those just starting in the digital printing industry, and for print providers using aqueous technology that want to start offering high quality outdoor prints. It is also an excellent choice for corporate customers that want to bring graphics production in-house. Eco-solvent inks used in the Oce CS9160 provide the outdoor benefits of solvent inks, while making it possible to use the printer in a regular office or small print shop environment without the need for an air purification system. It offers outdoor printing with the ease of use of an aqueous indoor printer: operator maintenance is limited to only five minutes per week.
The Oce CS9160 is designed for light production environments where high quality output and outdoor durability are required. Coated and uncoated media can be used for indoor and short- to mid-term outdoor applications of up to three years, without lamination. Sample applications include point-of-purchase displays, vehicle graphics, transit advertising, exhibit graphics, banners, museum graphics, wayfinding and window displays.
Advanced print technologies
The Oce CS9160 printer offers superior ink economy and print quality through the use of Oce CS9000 VariaDot(TM) imaging technology and WAVE Stitching print modes.
Oce CS9000 VariaDot imaging technology produces dots with variable drop sizes to deliver finer details, smoother gradients and sharper images. It also results in significantly lower ink usage compared to six color printers using fixed dot inkjet technology; 25 to 35 percent less ink is used.
WAVE Stitching — first introduced in the Oce CS9000 Series — prints in ‘waves’ instead of straight bands resulting in higher print quality, improved productivity and increased media versatility. WAVE Stitching is available in all print modes to deliver consistent quality at higher speed prints, even when more demanding media are used.
Optional items
An optional Infrared Dryer (IRD) is available for applications requiring drying assistance such as slower-drying media in combination with heavy ink loads, or when printing at high speeds. The IRD immediately dries the printed media without altering the color gamut; the print is dry before rolling onto the take-up reel.
ONYX(R) Workflow Software is available as an option to drive the Oce CS9160 printer.
Availability
The Oce CS9160 printer is expected to be available for customer shipment worldwide in the second quarter of 2008.
