East Lancs Box have the BOBST VISION diecutter for shelf ready

Bobst Group's Ken Stolber shakes hands with Nick Ingham, Production Director of East Lancs Box on delivery of the company's new BOBST SPO 160-VISION diecutter

Wednesday 26. March 2008 - East Lancashire Box has taken delivery of a new BOBST SPO 160-VISION diecutter to help cope with increased demand for its shelf ready packaging.

East Lancashire Box is based in Blackburn, Lancashire and specialises solely in shelf and retail ready packaging. The acquisition of the BOBST SPO 160-VISION will not only reduce the pressure on the diecutting side of the business, but will also help the company cater for short run work.

Peter Ingham, Sales Director of East Lancashire Box, said, “In packaging today the emphasis is very much on shelf and retail-ready packaging, by that I mean one pack to transport the product and the same pack to display it. The upshot of this is that the majority of packaging now needs to be diecut and then glued into displays. Combine this with the fact that customers want to reduce their levels of packaging stock and it means the industry needs to turn things around quicker than ever before. One of the main advantages of the BOBST VISION, apart from its speed and accuracy of diecutting, is its very fast makeready time, which means we can turn jobs around faster.”

Just over 16 months ago, East Lancashire Box invested heavily in upgrading its gluing department, also in response to the trend for shelf and retail ready packaging. Peter Ingham said, “Having made the gluer investment it showed up a production backlog among the diecutters that feed the gluing operation. We expect that the purchase of the BOBST SPO 160-VISION will overcome this problem and enable us to expand further.
