Ball Introduces Eyeris Enhanced Beverage Can Printing Technology
Tuesday 25. March 2008 - Ball Corporation (NYSE: BLL) is bringing Eyeris, a proprietary, enhanced beverage can printing technology, to the North American market. The technology, which is exclusive to Ball, brings improved definition and fine detail to beverage can graphics to create premium, on-shelf differentiation.
The process uses up to six colors, is available for any of the 18 beverage can sizes Ball manufactures and is compatible with all filling processes including retort. Eyeris brings new detail to high resolution/photographic quality images such as fruit, vegetables, water, ice and people.
Jones Soda, based in Seattle, was the first to take advantage of the Eyeris technology last fall for its limited edition Seattle Seahawks football-inspired flavored sodas. The cans featured crisp photographs of three Seahawks players. Additional Ball customers are currently preparing to launch a variety of beverages in cans decorated with Eyeris technology.
“The beverage can is an ideal package for a wide variety of products because it is recyclable, lightweight, and quick-chilling; in addition it provides an outstanding surface for our customers’ brand and promotional messages,” says John Friedery, president, Ball metal beverage packaging division, Americas and Asia. “We are excited to provide this new printing technology to our customers because it will enable us to produce cans in North American with near-photographic quality graphics, something which has not been possible until now.”
