Atex installs Autonomy’s solution for automated content classification at Il Giornale di Brescia

Autonomy’s solution allows classifying more content, reducing time, widening classification opportunities for content multi-use with digital media, and keeping the overall process under constant control

Atex, the world’s largest provider of mission-critical software solutions and services to the global media industry, today announced a new solution has been delivered to Il Giornale di Brescia that innovates the way news content is classified.

Always listening to customers’ needs, Atex adopted the software platform of Autonomy, a worldwide leader in software development for enterprises, and implemented it according to the specific requirements of Il Giornale di Brescia.

For Atex, this is an additional way of helping publishers to evolve their business model from a print-centric to a content-centric focus, enabling the effective use of digital publishing platforms.”

The project has been deployed in three phases, using services provided by Scube NewMedia, Autonomy’s local partner providing expertise and consultancy on asset management and integration tasks. During the first stage of the project, Autonomy software was applied to the current digital archive, automatically learning the




taxonomy adopted by the publisher’s archive department and mapping content with underlying concepts.

End users were then involved in the project to provide their expertise and were able to view and adjust the taxonomy rules generated by the software to guarantee accuracy. In this way Il Giornale di Brescia was able to keep control over the automation process — at any time users can check rules that are being applied and update them.

During the final phase of the project, Atex consultants integrated Autonomy’s software with the content management system and the asset management system, both provided by Atex, to automate daily classification of incoming content.
