Autonomous fill level monitoring with the new Krones Checkmat HF
Thursday 14. February 2008 - Small dimensions - large benefits: the new Checkmat 753 HF from Krones AG, Neutraubling, Germany, is a stand-alone solution that uses high-frequency measurements to detect with reliable accuracy whether a bottles fill level is too high or too low.
In contrast to X-ray or gamma-ray detection, the high-frequency process requires neither special permits nor elaborate safety precautions: “Link it up and let it run” after a minimised commissioning time is the reality here. The unit inspects up to 72,000 bottles per hour with maximised accuracy. And it operates entirely independently of the bottles material, shape or colour. Even paper or plastic labels will not impair the measurements. Result: accurate, safe inspection coupled with an outstanding price-performance ratio and simple, user-friendly operator control.
The units minimised dimensions mean it requires only 150 mm of conveyor length in the direction of bottle travel for measuring the fill level. It can be used with all Krones fillers or labellers, and with other makes as well. Thanks to a non-contact measuring process, there is no wear and tear; the Checkmat needs practically no maintenance at all.
The unit is designed for user-friendly operator control at a touch-screen on the new Krones xPanel terminal, where all relevant statistical production data are also displayed as needed. A teaching mode makes it easy to set up new bottle types. Any desired number of bottle variants can be stored on the internal flash card. Software updates can be simply loaded via a USB interface.
The new Checkmat 753 HF is at the same time the first device from a new family of inspection units with harmonised system characteristics, such as uniform mechanical and electrical interfaces, and software interfaces to the industrial standard.
