EUROMAN Featuring Boundless Versatility
Friday 08. February 2008 - MAN Roland heatset web press enhances and speeds up Brazilian printing companies production
Highly flexible and versatile – this was the objective of MAN Rolands design engineers in developing the EUROMAN, and precisely this goes down very well in Brazil at Posigraf and Ediouro Gráfica.
High quality standards, absolute dependability in meeting deadlines, and customer orientation have made the Posigraf printing company in Curitiba in the Brazilian state of Paraná what it is today: the largest producer of books and magazines in Latin America and the countrys market leader in advertising media for retailers. In order to meet market requirements, the company regularly upgrades its equipment to remain state-of-the-art. With its latest investment in the web press operations, Posigraf decided in favor of the new EUROMAN which impressed with flexibility and versatility. As Giem Raduy Guimarães, General Director of Posigraf, explains: “The mar-ket for our products is very diversified and so we need to be extremely flexible.” He ordered three of this new model in one hit. His company has prior experience with MAN Roland presses: a 64-page UNISET with heat-set equipment has been printing here since 2002.
Three EUROMAN for Brazils biggest printing company Posigraf
With 950 employees, Posigraf is the biggest printing company in Brazil and one of the biggest in Latin America. It is a member of the Positivo Group which is among the largest groups serving the Brazilian educational sector and was founded in 1972 as a manufacturer of teaching materials. Only three years later the company started producing advertising media for the business community and today has strategic partnerships with the countrys leading retailers.
Besides quality, these customers insist on strict adherence to delivery deadlines and prompt production of rush jobs. In a country with the dimensions of a continent, and with a location in the south of the country, this is no easy task. Highly efficient logistics are a must, and the production equipment must also be able to meet the exacting requirements. “Due to our location in the south of the country, time is an important factor. The inline finishing capabilities of these presses speed up our production which enables us to overcome the distance obstacle”, explains Giem Raduy Guimarães. “Our customers are spread all over Latin America and we are looking forward to export to other places like the US and The European Union. There is no reason why not to export to US or EU, we are closer than the Asian printers and our prices are as competitive as theirs. The EUROMAN assures us of consistent quality and also helps us respond to the needs our customers have for many different products.” With the new EUROMAN lines that are installed alongside one another, the company can even take on rush jobs regardless of the run length.
EUROMAN helps Ediouro double production
Only a few months after the EUROMAN started up in January 2007, production at Ediouro Gráfica in Rio de Janeiro was more than doubled – from 19 million signatures per month to 40 million. “The performance of the press is increasing every day, the results get better month for month”, reports Mauro Jorge Melli Carvalho Junior, Operation Director at Ediouro Gráfica, going on to say that: “Its great strengths are the very short make-ready times compared with other presses having the same number of pages, and the flexibility of the different format and image area options.” He already has considerable experience with MAN Roland web presses; a CROMOMAN has been in production at Ediouro Gráfica since 1995 and a POLYMAN since 2001.
Ediouro Gráfica is one of the biggest commercial printers in Rio de Janeiro, and the company belongs to the group of the same name. Here the new EUROMAN prints magazines, supplements and books and anything that can be printed on a heatset webfed press. “The EUROMAN has consolidated our position in the market for medium and long run magazines”, is Mauro Jorge Melli Carvalho Juniors satisfied summary of the performance of the new press. Ediouro prints no less than 9 million magazines every month, some 25 percent of them coming from companies within the group. One of the main products is Coquetele, a puzzle magazine that has been on the market for almost 70 years and has a monthly circulation of 3.4 million copies. The lions share of sales comes from companies outside the group. For example, Ediouro prints magazines for Rio de Janeiros three major newspapers, O Globo, Jornal do Brasil, and O Dia.
