Citrix Application Networking Solutions on Critical Path to Achieve Top Government Security Standard
Thursday 07. February 2008 - Common Criteria Certification Group to Examine Citrix NetScaler and Citrix Access Gateway for Coveted EAL2 Certification
Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the global leader in application delivery infrastructure, today announced that Citrix NetScaler, the first web application delivery system to fully integrate application acceleration, security and high availability capabilities, and Citrix Access Gateway Enterprise Edition, the companys SSL VPN solution for secure application access, have been accepted for strict, independent evaluation for Common Criteria Certification Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL2) verification from the Certification Body of the United Kingdom Information Technology Security Evaluation and Certification Scheme.
Common Criteria are a set of functional and assurance security requirements developed to provide a common international evaluation baseline for IT products and systems. The U.S. Department of Defense, international government entities, and many global Fortune 500 corporations require Common Criteria certification to ensure IT products have been independently verified to meet their security claims.
Common Criteria certification of Citrix NetScaler and Access Gateway will ensure that web applications delivered and protected by Citrix application networking solutions meet strict government requirements – including the policies and recommendations of DoD Directive 8100, 8500.2, OMB M-04-04 and NIST SP 800-63 – for features such as security functionality, identity management and the handling of vulnerabilities.
According to Tom Simmons, area vice president for Citrix Federal, Common Criteria certification reaffirms the companys dedication to providing secure application delivery solutions for the Department of Defense and for other government agencies.
“Common Criteria attainment is a testament of Citrixs commitment to the protection of critical data,” says Simmons. “Citrix has long partnered with government to provide a comprehensive approach to securing the delivery of applications by protecting the information at rest, information that is transmitted across the networks, and dynamically controlling access to applications.”
Citrix Presentation Server 4.5, the companys flagship Windows application delivery system, received EAL2 certification July 2007 and Citrix Password Manager, an award-winning, single sign-on solution, earned EAL2 certification in August 2007.
The Communications-Electronics Security Group (CESG) will independently evaluate Citrix NetScaler and Access Gateway Enterprise Edition to certify that they all meet the governments required IT security features. Citrix expects to receive notification of the examination results by the end of 2008.
