The Seattle Times chooses EidosMedia
Tuesday 05. February 2008 - The Seattle daily announces its intention to adopt EidosMedias integrated platform for its print and online operations.
As part of an extensive refocusing to address the changing business panorama, The Seattle Times intends to adopt EidosMedias Méthode editorial and publishing solution as an integrated platform for production of the papers print and online editions.
“We are aiming to build the news organization of the future, a multi-platform company based on a unique foundation of journalistic excellence, business excellence and community service,” said David Boardman, executive editor of The Seattle Times and www.seattletimes.com. “We had a clear vision of where we wanted to go from a technology standpoint, but until we started talking to EidosMedia we had no idea the solution we were seeking actually existed.”
“We are convinced that Méthode will help us achieve our vision.”
“The Seattle Times is perfectly placed to take advantage of Methodes streamlining and integration features,” said Gabriella Franzini, EidosMedia group CEO. “The synergies and productivity gains made possible by driving print and online community operations from a single editorial platform will be a powerful aid in allowing the paper to achieve its future business objectives.”
“This is a strategic choice for our organization,” said Greg Anderson, newsroom IT manager. “Méthodes open, standards-based technology and media-neutral approach make it an important investment even in this challenging U.S. newspaper environment.”
“The Seattle Times is highly innovative in both its journalistic approach and use of technology,” said Jo Ann Froelich, president of EidosMedia groups US company. “We are proud that they have chosen an EidosMedia platform for the next step in their organizations development.”
Founded in 1896, The Seattle Times is the largest daily newspaper in Washington State and its online edition is the Northwests most visited newspaper portal.
The new platform replaces the current editorial system supplied by CCI Europe and will serve about 250 users at the Times Seattle headquarters.
Implementation is planned to begin in late 2008 with completion in early 2009.
