Domino To Demonstrate New Thermal Transfer Overprinting Products At Foodex Meatex

Domino V200 with red film

Wednesday 30. January 2008 - Domino UK Ltd, the country’s leading ink jet and laser coding solutions provider, will use Foodex Meatex for the first UK public showing of its new V300+ thermal transfer printer (TTO) for flexible packaging. Visitors to the show will also be able to see the company’s V100 high-speed printer, M200 print and apply technology, its S200+ scribing laser and A300+ continuous ink jet printer.

The V300+ is the latest addition to the V-Series range. Achieving a print resolution of 300dpi, it is capable of applying high quality variable data including text, bar codes, Data Matrix codes as well as logos onto a wide range of web materials. It is designed for use in both continuous and intermittent modes, and can be mounted on a variety of flexible packaging machines including vertical or horizontal form, fill and seal machines and label applicators, making it suitable for many key food applications.

Delivering a new concept in TTO, the V300+ incorporates the intelligence of a standard controller within the printer unit, resulting in improved connectivity to any existing user interface.

The unit includes simple, maintenance free dancing arm technology providing consistent tension between new and used ribbon spools, which results in less maintenance, increased uptime and higher production speeds.

The V300+ includes a patented variable ribbon economy feature which offers ribbon savings of up to 60%. Combined with the unique ribbon auto-retraction system which ensures less than 1mm gap between the prints on the ribbon roll, this provides huge consumable cost-savings by minimising ribbon waste. In addition, the V300+ offers the highest-capacity ribbon rolls currently available – up to 1,400 metres – again resulting in reduced changeover and increased uptime.

Another product from Domino’s V-Series range to be showcased at Foodex Meatex is the V100, a reliable high-speed printer, suited to intermittent applications and offering a large marking area.

The M200 thermal transfer label printer can be used for a wide range of print and apply applications. This, along with other products from the M-Series range, enables Domino to provide a complete portfolio of flexible end-to-end coding solutions, including the full complement of primary, secondary and pallet coding offerings.

The M-Series comprises a fully modular system of printers, applicators and accessories, which provide label application flexibility to meet every customer requirement for printing variable data, text, graphics and RFID data onto outer cases. Delivering accurate information and label placement without compromising production line speeds, M-Series products ensure maximum productivity, flexibility and profitability.

Visitors to the Domino stand will be able to witness the high performance laser technology of the S200+, which will be coding on to chocolate boxes.

The versatile S-Series plus range of high performance scribing lasers has been designed to deliver high quality coding solutions that increase overall equipment effectiveness. The S-Series plus delivers permanent and precise letter quality codes in the most demanding production environments, whilst providing increased productivity and flexibility. Its high-speed printing capabilities range from simple, one-line codes in a range of fonts to more complex applications involving real time data, serial numbers and 2D codes.

From the A-Series plus range Domino will demonstrate the A300+ ink jet printer for displaying 2D Data Matrix and batch code information. This top selling range of continuous ink jet (CIJ) printers offers a coding solution with features to help manufacturers achieve increased production efficiencies. Easy to use, A-Series plus printers meet current market requirements for a robust and dependable CIJ solution that improves overall equipment effectiveness and availability. The A-Series plus range offers quality ink jet printing from basic coding requirements to tough industrial applications in harsh environments. The A300+ prints up to four lines of code text, logos, automatic serial or batch numbering and real-time clocks.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to showcase some of our top product ranges,” comments Simon Cox, Domino UK’s General Manager. “Foodex Meatex provides an ideal arena for us to communicate our offerings to the food industry, a key market for Domino.”D
