PRINT BUYER BOOT CAMP! COMING TO BOSTON AT ON DEMAND EXPO 2008
Wednesday 23. January 2008 - Print Buyer Boot Camp!, a program created specifically for new print buyers, will be offered by Print Buyers International (PBI) at the upcoming ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition

Print Buyers International today announced that they will be offering their Print Buyer Boot Camp! program at the upcoming 2008 ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition in Boston. This value-packed program, designed to provide a solid educational foundation for those new to print buying and printing, will be held on Thursday, March 6th (10:00 am – 4:00 pm) at the Boston Convention & Exposition Center.
PBI also announced that the Boot Camp instructors will be Margie Dana, founder of PBI and a former print buyer herself, and Steve Suffoletto, Senior Training Specialist for the Printing Application Laboratory at Rochester Institute of Technology. Together they will offer basic training for professionals who are new to print buying and who wish to gain greater print industry experience.
Serving New Print Buyers, New Print Sales and Service Reps
This program was specifically created to serve those who are new to the field of print buying, and introduced last fall at PBIs annual conference. The targeted audience includes print buyers, graphic designers, purchasing agents, corporate communications employees, account executives in advertising agencies, and marketing professionals whose responsibilities include the procurement of printing. Every business person who is in a position where he or she needs to work with the commercial printing industry will benefit from Boot Camp – even Customer Service Reps and Sales Reps new to the printing industry. Attendees will learn the best print-buying basics from two independent experts in this field.
Basic Training
This program was developed by Print Buyers International in 2007 to give new buyers a basic foundation in working with the printing industry. It was first offered at their 2nd Annual Print Buyers Conference, held in Westford, MA, last November, to critical acclaim. Many of the topics presented in November will be repeated with a few new topics planned. The upcoming Boot Camp at the ON DEMAND Conference will cover the following topics:
· Printing Process Overview;
· Pros/Cons of Digital vs. Offset Lithography (new!);
· The Importance of Good Job Specs;
· How to Approve a Proof and Give Press Color OKs (new!);
· How to Work with Your Printer Amicably;
· Buying Print? Where to Start;
· What Every Buyer Should Know about Paper;
· Best Buyer Resources.
Print Buyer Boot Camp! attendees will receive a guide that includes all of the presentation materials from both of the presenters. Graduates of PBI’s Boot Camp are armed with professional insights that normally take buyers years to master. This new knowledge will help them make informed decisions about print purchasing, which will translate into improved efficiencies and fewer mistakes.
