PET jar gives clarity to millions

RPC Containers Blackburn’s redesign of the distinctive jar used to package Millions candy has given the brand enhanced visual impact in sweetshops and other retail outlets.

Thursday 03. January 2008 - RPC Containers Blackburn’s redesign of the distinctive jar used to package Millions candy has given the brand enhanced visual impact in sweetshops and other retail outlets.

Golden Casket, manufacturers of Millions, first adopted the eye-catching design in the 1990s, which is instantly recognisable thanks to the ‘bubbled’ surface of its sides, resembling the shape of the candy, and the character branding applied to the large front panel.

When the original jar manufacturer went bankrupt, Golden Casket turned to RPC Blackburn to continue production. Faced with the need to create new tooling, RPC Blackburn suggested a redesign to strengthen the decorative profile of the front panel by making it flatter. At the same time, RPC proposed a change of material from PVC to PET, whose greater contact clarity enhances the appearance of the candy.

The injection moulded 2.83 L container is used to pack seven flavours of the tiny tasty chewy sweets available in the Millions brand.

“RPC has been a tremendous help, both ensuring a smooth changeover from our previous manufacturer and in demonstrating the initiative to take an already popular design to greater heights,” comments Sandra Fisher of Golden Casket.
