Hugo Beck takes visitors to interpack into the world of sustainable packaging
Wednesday 31. May 2023 - This development progress will be visible at the Hugo Beck stand, where visitors will be taken on a journey of discovery through the possibilities of paper and film packaging. Hugo Beck promises maximum flexibility in the market of today and tomorrow.
As the packaging industry looks forward to the first interpack after a six-year break, Hugo Beck – the world’s leading specialist in horizontal film packaging machines, flowpack and paper packaging machines, as well as solutions for automation – is inviting visitors to the trade fair to find out first-hand about the major developments in its machinery for sustainable packaging.
Among them is a new solution for paper packaging.
Since the last interpack in 2017, Hugo Beck has invested extensively in the introduction of new film and paper packaging machines as well as in the improvement of existing machines and functionalities.
This development progress will be visible at the Hugo Beck stand, where visitors will be taken on a journey of discovery through the possibilities of paper and film packaging. Hugo Beck promises “maximum flexibility in the market of today and tomorrow”.
One focus is on the far-reaching competence in the field of sustainable packaging concepts and resource-saving machine technology. This includes making customer packaging processes future-proof by integrating flexible, fully automatic packaging machines that help reduce material consumption, increase efficiency and improve recyclability.
Live on the Hugo Beck stand (Hall 11, Stand G39
Hugo Beck highlights individual packaging solutions for different industries and products. A new flexo paper packaging machine will be presented as a cost-effective entry-level model and space-saving machine solution. It is a hybrid variant among the company’s flexo machines and can be changed over between paper and film within a few minutes, making it ideal for a wide range of industries, from e-commerce and logistics to many other industries.
The paper e-com fit for paper packaging is the ideal packaging machine for e-commerce applications. It automatically adjusts the size of the shipping bags to the varying length and width of the products. Different product sizes with a height of up to 200 mm can be packed jumbled in one piece with minimal paper consumption. The precisely fitting paper bags have two sewn sides and a glued overlap at the top. This opens up new possibilities for e-commerce and mail-order businesses for sustainable shipping packaging – whether it’s direct mail from one-packers, container packaging or the complex requirements of returns packaging.
The flowpack X is a modular solution for film-sealed packaging and paper packaging. With its short changeover times, it can be effortlessly converted to process different packaging materials and is capable of processing a wide variety of heat-sealable and cold-sealable paper-based packaging materials as well as films in different thicknesses. This provides optimal functionality for manufacturers seeking sustainable packaging materials. Since this flowpack machine can produce, among other things, film-sealed packaging, it is ideally suited for the pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors, but customers from other industries can also benefit from maximum flexibility and safety when using a wide variety of packaging materials with this machine.
The continuous form, fill and seal machines of the servo X series achieve material savings of 60 to 70 per cent by minimising the use of film and are therefore of interest to various industries. An essential requirement in terms of sustainability is to reduce the consumption of packaging material to a minimum from the outset. Hugo Beck servo X machines are designed to make film consumption as efficient as possible, while delivering consistently high or even increased performance with all machine-compatible film types, such as film made from mono-material, recycled material or bio-film. The amount of film required is easily reduced by the company’s extremely tight packaging technology, which provides a snug fit of the film and generates hardly any film waste in production. The sustainability balance of film packaging can also be optimised by making it as thin and light as possible. Packaging machines from Hugo Beck process ultra-thin packaging and shrink films from as little as 7 µm.
Live on the SEW-EURODRIVE stand (Hall 6, Stand C49)
The company’s sustainable and efficient packaging technology can be seen live in action not only at the Hugo Beck stand. For example, SEW-EURODRIVE will also be presenting Hugo Beck’s latest flowpack X machine for paper packaging, which is available with complete automation solutions from SEW-EURODRIVE upon customer request.
The carefully selected drive and automation components from SEW-EURODRIVE have been specifically expanded with regard to Hugo Beck’s sustainability requirements and now also include components such as energy storage and stepper drives. With the use of an intelligent energy management system and the replacement of pneumatic drives with electromechanical drives, the energy requirement is significantly and measurably reduced and compressed air is made superfluous.
The use of an energy storage unit in conjunction with the software modules from SEW-EURODRIVE leads to the stabilisation of the energy supply and bridging of short-term voltage dips as well as reduced energy consumption.
This means that the machine can also be used when the supply network is unstable or there is even the threat of a power failure.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors to interpack and sharing directly what tremendous progress we have made in product development since the last trade fair,” explains Timo Kollmann, Managing Director of Hugo Beck.
“The packaging world has changed a lot over the past six years with the increasing focus on sustainability and, for example, the significant growth in industries such as e-commerce. Our latest packaging solutions help our customers meet the challenges of becoming more sustainable while meeting the key requirements of effective packaging, such as ensuring product protection and shelf life.”
