Crownpack boosts capabilities with BOBST NOVA D 800 Laminator
Wednesday 23. June 2021 - Flexible packaging and folding carton supplier to the food, FMCG and personal care sectors, Crownpack, has enhanced its capabilities with the addition of BOBST NOVA D 800 Laminator, a multi-technology laminator supplied by BOBST.
Founded in 2006 and based in Sango Otta, Nigeria, Crownpack has been investing heavily in state-of-the-art printing and laminating machines, including offset presses, folder-gluers and a coextrusion blown film plant. In its latest investment, the business has installed a BOBST NOVA D 800 Laminator.
Sanjoy Samanta, CEO at Crownpack, commented: “At Crownpack, we are constantly expanding our capabilities to offer our customers greater choice and a stronger end-to-end service. Our facilities cover 200,000sq. ft. and our workforce totals around 250, so our priority is having machines that deliver the efficiency, quality, and consistency to make best use of our resources.
“We have been working with BOBST machines for around 4 years, previously investing in a BOBST Rotogravure press and Speria 106E Die Cutter. Our team was seeking a laminator that could boost our efficiency, capacity and quality. From our previous experience with their machines, we knew BOBST was the natural choice for us. Fast tool-free changeover, superb quality and teeming with next-generation technology, the BOBST NOVA D 800 Combi Laminator helps us to offer our customers the performance and cost-efficient production that is so essential to the global market.
Designed for the ultimate automation and connectivity that BOBST is known for, BOBST NOVA D 800 Laminator features innovations to boost flexibility and productivity for packaging converters. Its multi-trolley design is ideal for process technologies such as solvent-free, solvent-based or water-based dry lamination, in-register cold seal coating on pre-printed substrates and in-register printing of an additional colour. Putting accessibility and digital integration at the heart of the workflow, the laminator boasts fully integrated HMI for setting, display and storage of individual job working parameters, making it easy to recall job recipes.
BOBST NOVA D 800 Laminator also features Registron Mark-to-Mark reading technology for in-register cold seal and lacquer coating, unlocking real-time reading and detection of cold seal presence, avoiding costly and disruptive non-conformities. Nanni Bertorelli, PL Director of Laminating and Coating at BOBST, commented: “Our team was delighted to support Crownpack with the installation of BOBST NOVA D 800 Laminator. The machine delivers outstanding performance and uniformity on any run length and on all types of substrate or adhesive, whether conventional or designed for recycling. “Our customers love the excellent performance at speed, combining precise web handling on throughput of up to 450m per minute. The machine can also actively contribute to sustainability goals for packaging converters – with the BOBST flexo trolley, the machine also uses up to 20% less adhesive, reducing solvent waste by up to half.”
