Graphic Packaging Launches Paperseal Slice And Wedge Packaging Solution For Sliced Meat And Cheese
Tuesday 27. April 2021 - Graphic Packaging International (Graphic Packaging), a leading supplier of paper-based packaging, is launching two innovations designed to expand the companys award-winning PaperSeal range and open up new areas of application.
PaperSeal Slice and WedgeMuch in the style of the highly successful PaperSeal packaging solutions, PaperSeal Slice and Wedge offer large and small brands and retailers a recyclable, impenetrable-coated paperboard packaging alternative that can be used in place of thermoformed plastic packaging for sliced meats and cheeses. Both PaperSeal Slice and PaperSeal Wedge offer enhanced branding possibilities with a high-quality graphic design that catches the eye on the shelf.
Ricardo De Genova, SVP of global innovation and new business at Graphic Packaging, says: “Compared to traditional plastic packaging, PaperSeal Slice typically reduces plastic waste by 75 per cent and PaperSeal Wedge by as much as 80 per cent. In addition, the innovative new models are made from lighter cardboard, which reduces packaging weight, helping our customers to achieve their packaging sustainability targets. Both variants are available as a moulded and a flat solution.”
Both solutions are fully geared to withstand the rigours of modern supply chains, with excellent seal integrity and a minimum shelf life equivalent to traditional plastic packaging. As with the veteran PaperSeal packaging, the option to peel the top film and coating from the paperboard after use is also included, simplifying recycling.
PaperSeal Slice and PaperSeal Wedge offer the security, flexibility, efficiency and superior branding opportunities familiar from PaperSeal, while paving the way to new product categories.
De Genova explains, “There is a huge demand for sustainable, fibre-based alternatives to plastic packaging, and we are looking to several new PaperSeal innovations to help our customers in their efforts to protect the environment. PaperSeal Slice and PaperSeal Wedge are just two examples of the ways we are shaping our flexible PaperSeal range. This allows us to respond to the priorities that individual brands and retailers have around sustainability.”
Graphic Packaging’s Vision 2025 aims to make a full 100 per cent of its products fully recyclable by 2025. To put its ambitious packaging sustainability strategies into action, the company is working with like-minded customers from around the world.
Both Slice and Wedge are marketable and meet the requirements of fast production lines in food manufacturers’ operations.
