More energy efficiency in printing: technotrans presents new solutions at drupa
Friday 16. April 2021 - At this years virtual drupa from April 20 to 23, technotrans SE is placing greater emphasis on the future topic of sustainability. The company will be presenting new and further developed products that are characterised above all by high process reliability and efficiency in operation.
These include the new, modular ECOtec.chiller cooling system and the beta.c blue combination unit for dampening solution preparation and ink roller temperature control. The company will also be presenting its new service app, which enables even more efficient customer service thanks to augmented reality and other features. As part of the online lecture “Efficient Thermal Management”, technotrans will be providing a detailed insight into the technology of the equipment and service at the start of the trade fair on 20 April.
The printing industry has long been aware of the need to produce in an environmentally friendly way – more and more printing press manufacturers and printing plants want to save resources as well as energy and are therefore increasingly investing in efficient technologies for the entire printing process. “The issue of sustainability has also always been a very high priority at technotrans. In recent years we have concentrated on developing resource-saving product solutions that also have a high power density,” says Peter Böcker, Sales Manager of technotrans SE.
One of the highlights at technotrans’ virtual exhibition stand is the modular ECOtec.chiller. The new cooling unit is suitable for use in virtually all printing applications – from digital to flexo and offset printing. Its cooling capacity covers a range from 1.5 to 370 KW. Individual customer requirements for a cooling system can now be implemented even faster thanks to comprehensive modularisation of the central components. Further advantages are its high power density and energy efficiency as well as a low CO2 footprint. “With the ECOtec.chiller, users not only save up to 30 per cent on energy costs – the refrigerant required can also be reduced by up to 60 per cent,” explains Böcker. The chiller is available as a standard “pure” line and as an individual “xtend” series.
With the beta.c blue combination unit, technotrans is presenting another sustainable product for the printing industry in the area of dampening solution preparation and ink unit temperature control. Thanks to a special refrigeration concept with two separate refrigeration circuits and a power-regulating compressor, the unit achieves a high level of energy efficiency – electricity savings of up to 25 percent compared with the predecessor model are thus possible. Thanks to the use of precise measuring and metering technology, the system is also particularly resource-efficient. In addition, technotrans uses the climate-friendly refrigerant R513A for the beta.c blue.
A holistic approach to sustainability
At technotrans, the issue of sustainability does not end with product solutions – the company also focuses on energy and resource efficiency in its service. As part of its digitalisation measures, the group developed an app for remote support, which is particularly necessary in times of travel and contact restrictions. Among other things, the software has smart glasses support, virtual conference rooms and a chat with automatic language translation. With the help of the app, service staff determine maintenance needs, instruct customers and can conduct training. This not only saves both sides time and money, but also protects the climate, as ideally business trips are no longer necessary.
