Ranpak receives full FSC certification for its paper packaging products

Friday 26. March 2021 - Ranpak Holdings Corp. (Ranpak) (NYSE: PACK), the global leader in environmentally sustainable, paper-based packaging solutions for e-commerce and industrial supply chains, today announced supply chain certification of all of its European manufacturing facilities by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

The certification is further evidence of the implementation of the company’s motto “Deliver a Better World” – Ranpak contributes to a better world worldwide with circular, recyclable packaging solutions.
As a result, all Ranpak packaging products will be certified for the European, Middle Eastern and Asia Pacific markets. This certification underpins the company’s motto “Deliver a Better World”.
The circular economy is the ultimate goal for sustainable business. The use of responsibly sourced paper packaging helps to close this loop. Ranpak’s packaging materials start in responsibly managed forests. After use, they can be easily recycled through conventional recycling infrastructure or naturally degraded without causing any long-term environmental impact.
“Ranpak helps its customers run their businesses as sustainably as possible without sacrificing efficiency or performance. By offering FSC certified products, we are helping our customers do just that,” says Omar Asali, Chairman & CEO of Ranpak. “Our solutions are extremely important to our customers, both in terms of environmental benefits and positive impact on customer satisfaction and brand image. We are happy to play a key role in reducing our customers’ environmental impact by replacing plastic packaging with a better, more sustainable solution – paper.”
The FSC sets standards for responsible forest management. Certification ensures that products are sourced from responsible forestry that provides environmental, social and economic benefits. Because certification is voluntary, the FSC uses the power of the market to protect forests for future generations. Currently, more than 154 million hectares of forests worldwide are certified under the FSC system.
“Whether by sequestering carbon from the atmosphere or safeguarding biodiversity, responsibly managed forests are an essential element for a more sustainable future,” explains David Murgio, Chief Sustainability Officer at Ranpak. “By setting and enforcing standards for responsible forest management, the FSC is instrumental in ensuring that the world’s forests will continue to play this critical role for generations to come. FSC certification ensures a reliable and verifiable supply chain for our products and gives our customers the assurance that they can be part of this solution by using our products,” adds Murgio.
Ranpak has been a leading provider of environmentally sustainable, paper-based product protection solutions since 1972 in an effort to provide a replacement for the more than 400 million tonnes of plastic produced each year. Unlike plastic, all paper packaging materials are renewable, biodegradable and recyclable on site.
Ranpak is a member of the Plastic Pollution Coalition, a global alliance working for a world free of plastic pollution, and the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, which brings together packaging sustainability stakeholders to promote achievable improvements in packaging systems and provide an authoritative voice on packaging sustainability issues.
