Small suppliers will disappear from the market – Machineseeker Group takes over Werktuigen.nl

Monday 20. July 2020 - The Machineseeker Group, operator of Maschinensucher.de - Europes No. 1 online marketplace for used machinery - has taken over Werktuigen.nl, a leading competitor in the Benelux countries, with effect from 1 July 2020. Through this acquisition, the Machineseeker Group has increased the reach of its platforms to seven million buyers of used machinery per month. Potential buyers benefit from an extended range of machines on the various online marketplaces of the Essen-based Internet company.

With this merger, the Machineseeker Group is reacting to developments in the online market. “It is to be expected that in ten years’ time there will only be about four to five relevant marketplaces for used machines, similar to other sectors. Small suppliers in particular will disappear from the market. Due to the relevance of international trade, this development will not stop at borders”, says Thorsten Muschler, CEO and founder of the Machineseeker Group.
For the Machineseeker Group this is already the third takeover in the last three years. “It is our goal to be the No. 1 for used machines with and without wheels in every European country”, says Internet pioneer Muschler. This is why, after the Polish competitor MaszynyUzywane.pl, TruckScout24 was also taken over last year by the listed company Scout24 AG.
The merger of the platforms makes it easier for users to buy and sell used machines. Suppliers only have to maintain one network and reach seven million buyers across all platforms. Buyers save themselves time and effort in their searches, as they no longer have to search through numerous marketplaces.
