HED GmbH Adhesive Label Printing Expands Product Range by Installing an HP Indigo 6900
Monday 11. May 2020 - HED GmbH Haftkettendruck is installing its first Indigo digital press, the HP Indigo 6900. The family business from Bietigheim-Bissingen offers a comprehensive portfolio of labels. In addition to standard labels, it also produces special labels for the pharmaceutical industry. These include, for example, serialised sealing labels, wrap-around labels specially designed for small diameter round containers or labels with one or more removable sections (e.g. labels on vaccine ampoules where the documentation section is glued into the vaccination passport).
With this new acquisition, the company is now responding to the decreasing run sizes with a simultaneous increase in variety and shorter production cycles.
“The cycle rate with which we produce today is much faster than it was a few years ago. We can only master these challenges with the help of digital printing. The HP Indigo 6900 has been the reference in the market for years, so it is a safe investment for us. The ability to plan and calculate the costs incurred as a result of the click-cost model also plays a major role for us,” emphasises Michael Hermann, Managing Director of HED GmbH Haftetikettendruck.
After a detailed comparison of different digital printing machines – also at the Labelexpo trade fair – HED GmbH Haftetikettendruck finally decided on the HP Indigo 6900.
In addition to the variety of substrates, the displayable colour gamut of the HP Indigo 6900 was convincing. Seven-colour printing and HP Indigo ElectroInks enable a comprehensive digital colour spectrum, including metallic colours, to be displayed on a wide range of substrates.
“With the HP Indigo 6900, we can take full advantage of the benefits of digital printing and significantly expand our product offerings. This also includes the printing of multi-level security features for products that are exposed to an increased risk of counterfeiting. We are thus offering our customers completely new applications that could not be implemented in this way before. At the same time, we are gaining flexibility and speed with maximum print quality,” emphasizes Hermann.
