Canon competition New Cosmos of Photography 2020
Tuesday 07. April 2020 - Canon has launched this years New Cosmos of Photography 2020 photography competition, which, as in previous years, is about new and creative ways of exploring photography and video. The competition is open to international participants. This years jury includes British photographer Paul Graham, Japanese art critic Noi Sawaragi and Japanese photographer Mikiya Takimoto.
The selection committee for the Excellence Award will meet in June to select seven winners of the Excellence Award and 14 winners of the Honorable Mention Award. This will be followed in October by the selection of the winner of the “Grand Prize”.
Since its launch in 1991, the New Cosmos of Photography has received 31,357 entries from individuals and groups. Many of the participants used the competition as a springboard to success for their professional careers.
The main prize of this year’s competition is a prize money of 1 million JPY (approx. 8,500 Euro) and a Canon camera. The winner will also have the opportunity to show their work in an individual exhibition of the winning entries. The winners of the Excellence Awards and the Honorable Mention Awards will also receive prize money and the opportunity to be present at this year’s exhibition.
Entries from individuals or groups will be accepted as original photos by mail or online until 20 May 2020. The winners will be contacted directly at the end of July.
