Canon welcomes record visitor numbers at FESPA 2018 to explore solutions to unleash productivity and creativity

Friday 08. June 2018 - Canon welcomed record visitor numbers to its largest ever stand at FESPA 2018, with 11,000 individual customers and prospects coming to see Canons range of advanced digital wide format production solutions, for applications from signage and graphics to interior décor and packaging.

Major attractions for visitors to Canon at FESPA were the live, fully automated Océ Arizona/ProCut flatbed print-and-cut workflow featuring robot technology configured by Canon partner Rolan Robotics, as well as the Océ Colorado 1640 roll-to-roll printer demonstrated with inline finishing from Fotoba.
Mark Lawn, Director, Graphic & Communications Group, Canon Europe comments: “A year ago, Canon was the talk of FESPA with the launch of Canon UVgel technology. This year, the Océ Colorado 1640 remained a key draw to the stand as visitors could witness the success of the product in the market, hearing from our customers and seeing real customer applications. There was also an incredible buzz around our robotised workflow, as print service providers (PSPs) start to see the potential value of rethinking production to take advantage of the wave of business growth opportunities.”
He continues, “It was clear from conversations at FESPA that customer demand for wide format print applications is buoyant, which is motivating PSPs to focus on strategies to expand their production capacity and automate processes where possible. Across our flatbed and roll-to-roll portfolios we were able to demonstrate how Canon is collaborating with expert partners to deliver cutting edge end-to-end solutions to address these customer needs.”
FESPA 2018 provided the opportunity for Canon to illustrate the positive market impact of Canon UVgel technology through a range of success stories from among 300 active EMEA users of the Océ Colorado 1640. This attracted a flood of further orders for the roll-to-roll printer, as visitors saw real customer evidence of the technology’s unique blend of high productivity, print quality and media versatility.
PSPs’ drive to diversify into new application areas was also a focus all around FESPA 2018, and the Canon stand was a rich showcase of actual customer applications covering the spectrum of promotional graphics, print and packaging, as well as illustrating the lucrative opportunities in digitally printed interior décor.
Canon’s launch of the new Océ Touchstone elevated printing solution attracted significant interest from flatbed customers interested in enhancing their value proposition with textured prints and other special effects, unlocking potential for high value work in interior décor, high-value POS and luxury packaging.
“More than one in two visitors to FESPA 2018 Global Print Expo chose to visit the Canon stand among the 700+ exhibitors at the show. We see that as evidence of Canon’s strong and growing reputation in the speciality print sector for sustained innovation geared to unlocking PSPs’ business potential. Customer conversations underline how much importance PSPs place on our strong ethos of long-term partnership and business support, whether their journey is driven by the wish to maximise productivity or to unleash new application capabilities as the foundation for growth. With the wealth of inspirational real-life customer examples on the stand, we energised visitors and gave them a clear vision of how Canon can guide them to evolve their offering and take their business to new heights.”
