Spanish packaging printer Omnipack invests in eight-color ROLAND 700 PLV 8/0-4/4 HiPrint press
Wednesday 15. February 2017 - Omnipack, S.L. is gearing up for a busy year ahead, after the Barcelona-based packaging printer invested in a new press.
No stranger to Manroland Sheetfed presses and their cutting edge technology, Omnipack recently decided to acquire a brand-new eight-color ROLAND 700 PLV 8/0-4/4 HiPrint to further boost its production output and product quality.
“I feel very excited about the new opportunities that the investment in the new press will bring us,” says Mr. David Llovich, the companys General Manager.
“It was clear for me that we needed not only to renew our technology, but also to increase our printing capacity to support our future growth.”
Founded in 1990, Omnipack specializes in folding cartons (especially in the shoulder-box segment) and labels for tobacco and high-quality consumer goods. Since 2008, the company has been part of the family-owned Austrian holding CTI Group, which operates in three continents.
Premium print quality has been at the heart of Omnipack’s success for more than three decades, hence Mr. Llovich is determined to continue this fine tradition. Customers also expect no less from them. “Premium printing quality had been fundamental to our companys great success all these years,” he says.
“In addition to improving the appearance of a product, the packaging plays a vital role in representing our customers corporate identity and brand image. Our packaging is just like the medium of communication that effectively reaches the end users. Therefore, we take it very seriously. We clearly understand that high-quality packaging is crucial to our customers’ success.”
When it comes to stable and excellent print quality, Omnipacks two existing high-speed ROLAND presses — a ROLAND 706 PLV 6 /0-2/4 and a ROLAND 306 PPLV 6/0-1/5-2/4 – have been up to the challenge for a considerable period of time, according to Mr. Llovich.
But because of an upshot in its business, Omnipack decided to install a brand-new ROLAND 708 PLV 8/0-4/4 HiPrint to replace its ROLAND 306 PPLV 6/0-1/5-2/4.
Furthermore, its ROLAND 706 PLV 6/0-2/4 will have many value-added upgrades. These include the PressManager Smart (for reducing the ink presetting time), Plate De-Inking (for reducing the wash up time and saving on washing agent), Inking roller blowing device with integrated ink mist extraction (for stabilizing production through a constant ink/water balance), Active Drain System (for increased maintenance intervals of the washing circuit), Sheet Stop before the infeed (to prevent sheets from getting into the machine and damaging the blankets) and E-Line Chamber Blade System (for reducing the time for blade replacement).
“We are very happy to have decided to continue our long-term partnership with Manroland Sheetfed,” says Mr. Gabriel Jesús González, Chief Technical Officer of the CTI Group. “For me, it was not only about the technical capabilities of the press, but also about the team behind Manroland Iberica and its headquarters in Germany. It gives me confidence that the Langley Group will continue to support a company such as Manroland Sheetfed with a long history and tradition in the printing industry.”
Mr. Antonio Yubero, Managing Director of Manroland Iberica, thanked Omnipack and the CTI Group for their great support and trust.
“Manroland Sheetfed has been a long-standing partner of Omnipack and the CTI Group,” Mr. Yubero says. “Their investment in a new 8-color press is a confirmation of our successful partnership. Apart from the good technical capabilities of the new press, Manroland Sheetfeds comprehensive after-sales service inspires confidence and assures end users of a swift response in the unlikely event of a technical problem. “When it comes to reliability, our presses have proven to be solid and dependable. Its not surprising that Omnipacks previous ROLAND 306 press performed admirably for more than 10 years.”
Aided by the worlds most advanced printing technologies and Manroland Sheetfeds reliable technical service, Omnipack is well on its way to becoming the leading printing facility in Spain and Europe.
