From traditional to contemporary: an experience of visual communication – 30 years of viscom at the new show & do arena

Monday 24. October 2016 - Anyone can now create their own wallpaper, be a designer with the help of an app and leverage the latest printing technologies, leaving nothing to be desired in matters of colour intensity, style and special effects. This progress and a review of the last 30 years in visual communication will be presented at the new show & do arena at viscom frankfurt 2016. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of this trade fair, visitors to the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre will have an opportunity to enjoy a hands-on, proactive experience of the transformation that has happened in this industry. Visitors will be expressly encouraged to have a go and try things out for themselves.

WE ARE FASHION von A-BLOK (Quelle: A-BLOK)Anyone who has always wanted to be a designer should definitely look up A-BLOK at the show & do arena. The presentation of this Cologne-based company in the special anniversary space is called WE ARE FASHION. Visitors will be invited to create their own designs – directly on an iPad. They can then admire the result in real time, as the designs are immediately visualised in the form of animated models. It is an ideal tool for experimental marketing at the PoS, helping consumers to experience a brand first-hand and also continually to communicate online with other participants, e.g. by creating newsletters and competitions.

Eigenes Design mithilfe der HP WallArt Suite gestalten (Quelle: HP)HP Germany – the printing experts – have turned their attention to wallpapering, and so visitors can have a live experience of the digital printing process involved in creating wallpaper. “Visitors are welcome to create their own design, using the HP WallArt Suite, and then to print out the result on the new HP Latex 300 series printer. Next, the wallpaper is cut on a Fotoba cutter, and finally, all that is left for the customer to do is to put the finished product up on the wall. This is coupled with a presentation of different wallpaper types,” says Holger Naumburg, HP Large Format Design Sales Specialist. Anyone wanting to take part is welcome to preregister here.

(vl.) Gerber Graphix 4 aus dem Jahr 1983 (Quelle: Brunner) im Vergleich zum Mimaki CG60 (Quelle: Mimaki)The last 30 years of visual communication will be graphically presented by Brunner and Avery Dennison, showing the various stages next to one other. Michael Kist, Aftermarket Business Manager at Brunner, will invite visitors to a direct comparison: “Do you remember the beginnings of computerised vinyl lettering over 30 years ago? Or would you like to experience it live? Supported by Mimaki Germany, Brunner and Avery Dennison will present the chronological evolution of a cutting plotter. Come and be amazed at the first plotter systems, the Gerber Graphix 4, which was used in 1983, and witness a direct contest between this machine and today’s technology, the Mimaki CG60.”

LEF-20_EUV3_BOFA (Quelle: Roland)Visitors to the Roland stand can look forward to a personalised gift. The company is planning to show the practical use of its VersaUV series, allowing the user to print text, photos, logos and other designs directly onto items up to 10 cm in thickness. Each object is thus turned into a personalised gadget within seconds, and in fact at an attractive price. The machine can print on a wide range of materials: PET, ABS, polycarbonate, TPU, leather and textiles. The speed and simplicity of printing – particularly images – onto a variety of objects will be demonstrated by Roland at the viscom show & do arena.

Epson SureColor SC-F2000 (Quelle: Epson)It only takes 25 seconds, and the printed T-shirt is yours: Epson Germany will be represented in the special arena with an innovative technology that allows fast and hassle-free direct printing onto textiles. The new Epson SureColor SC-F2000 is suitable as a DTG printer (direct to garment) and can be used for the customised printing of T-shirts. The package includes a simple-to-use software application called Garment Creator Design. In the same context Epson Germany will also present its brand-new UltraChrom DG Ink, the latest combination of CMYK and white ink with pre-treatment liquid. Its main features are accurate colour reproduction with smooth gradations, consistent colours, elasticity and a non-adhesive, smooth surface. Thanks to its low ink consumption, the investment soon pays off. Moreover, it is certified under the Oeko-Tex 100 standard, Product Class 1, so that the printed output on textiles is harmless for adults, children and even toddlers.

OKI White Toner Neon Color Drucker (Quelle: OKI)Another exhibitor at the show & do arena will be Karl Gröner. “Our new OKI White Toner Neon Colour Printer will demonstrate how exciting it can be to design advertising textiles, but also to apply toner transfer printing to other printing substrates. The OKI Neon Printer is a great supplementary product for existing white toner installations, as this innovative technology is particularly suitable for colour-intensive and fluorescent designs with stunning light effects,” says Bernd Gröner, Managing Director of Karl Gröner.
