Delphax Announces First elan 500 Installation In Canada
Monday 23. March 2015 - Company to place industry-leading cut sheet printer with Public Works and Government Services Canada in Quebec City
Delphax Technologies Canada Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delphax Technologies Inc. (OTC:DLPX), a global provider of high-speed digital printing equipment, today announced an agreement to install an elan 500 cut sheet MICR inkjet press for Public Works and Government Services Canada in Quebec City.
The elan 500 combines major advances in inkjet and paper-handling technologies, providing a robust production class sheet-fed, duplex-capable system offering full CMYK color and 1600 dpi print quality at speeds of up to 500 letter impressions per minute. This placement was achieved in conjunction with elan’s selection as a pre-qualified product in the Canadian government’s coveted Built in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP), a program promoting new and innovative goods and services designed and built in Canada.
“As the first elan customer in Canada, Public Works and Government Services Canada has given us the highest endorsement possible for our technology, which will provide future color growth for applications within Public Works and Government Services Canada,” said Dieter Schilling, president and chief executive officer of Delphax Technologies Inc. “We believe elan offers a combination of cost-effectiveness and color-production quality that has the potential to reshape the market. elan’s price, sheet-fed configuration and performance plus the ability to print MICR documents make it the most versatile and affordable system to date in the market place.”
The elan digital front end (DFE) uses the Harlequin HHR RIP from Global Graphics for both publishing and variable workflow, driven by Delphax’s unique scalable RIP architecture. The intuitive touch-screen interface simplifies the operator experience, keeping input options clear and uncomplicated. Comprehensive reporting systems provide detailed metrics and permit real-time analysis of system performance for printer operators. elan’s combination of speed and sheet size make it the fastest cut sheet inkjet printer in the market today.
elan is Delphax’s response to a growing customer demand for more efficient, versatile and affordable color printing equipment, and it promises to be an ideal platform for commercial print-on-demand challenges in direct mail, transpromotional, billing, statements and book or manual publishing. Its variable data, spot color and MICR capability are also expected to make elan attractive to many other printing market segments.
A pioneer in digital print production, Delphax has captured the largest worldwide market share in check-printing applications, developing a highly regarded global customer-service and support organization in the process.
“We are positioning elan to have a much broader market appeal than we could ask from our existing monochrome products,” Schilling said. “It represents an entirely new category of digital print technology and offers a combination of price and performance that we believe is unmatched today and long awaited by the market.”
