Screen Truepress Jet L350UV Named Best Label Printer
Monday 02. June 2014 - Screen USA is pleased to announce that the Truepress Jet L350UV has joined the ranks of elite digital production tools. The European Digital Press Association (EDP) voted the Truepress Jet L350UV "Best Label Printing Solution" of the year in the 2014 EDP Awards, presented during FESPA Digital in Munich in May.
“We are delighted for our Screen colleagues in Europe and proud to include the Truepress Jet L350UV among the growing number of award-winning Screen devices,” said Mike Fox, president of Screen USA. “The Truepress Jet L350UV has earned the recognition it deserves as a unique and innovative inkjet label press. Screen customers reap the benefit of our inkjet technology in a number of ways not only through the specifications and performance but also, as important, by enabling end-users to differentiate themselves in the market.”
The Truepress Jet L350UV made its worldwide debut at drupa 2012 in response to industry needs for precise color imaging, fast job turnarounds and print-on-demand systems that can provide added-value services on short and medium runs. The impressive machine became commercially available in 2013, and label and packaging printers are already seeing expanded production capacity and new creative market opportunities.
Class-leading features such as the 13.7-inch web width and linear printing speed of 164 feet per minute place the Truepress Jet L350UV in the top echelon of digital label printing equipment. The Truepress Jet L350UV prints in wide-gamut CMYK, utilizing Truepress high-definition UV inks. Optional opaque white ink allows printing on transparent film and metallic foil for greater application versatility while further boosting color vibrancy.
Single-pass printing and four-level grayscale printheads with a minimum droplet size of 3 picoliters deliver excellent color fidelity, smooth gradations and vignettes, and very sharp small type. This is combined with an automatic head cleaning function to ensure consistent output results by cleaning the head area with the simple click of a button so that the press is instantly ready for production.
The whole process from file input to a finished roll is automated thanks to Screen’s Equios universal workflow system. Printing operations can integrate the Truepress Jet L350UV into existing pressroom systems, offering ease of connectivity to prepress and postpress equipment.
Now its eighth year, the annual EDP contest celebrates superlative new technology in the digital printing arena. The multi-level judging process involves members of the association’s Technical Committee and General Assembly, along with independent consultants and journalists. The thorough investigation weighs the value these technologies bring to the digital industry. In addition, the review process considers service and support. Winning technologies improve speed, quality, productivity and operability or reduce cost or environmental impact. This year, product suppliers submitted more than 120 entries for evaluation in 28 categories.
