FESPA announces shortlist of entries for 2014 Awards

Tuesday 01. April 2014 - FESPA calls on community to vote for the People's Choice Award

FESPA has announced the shortlisted entries for its 2014 Awards following judging at the FESPA Global Summit (6-7 March 2014). The entries are now open for the public to vote for their favourite to win People’s Choice of the Year.
The shortlisted entries, chosen by the Awards judges, are now live on the FESPA website for the print community to vote for their favourite until 20 May 2014. The public can choose their favourite entry across the ten categories including: in-store, interior decoration, garment decoration, fine art, outdoor and vehicle decoration, functional print, integrated print, special effect and ‘young star’ to win the People’s Choice Award.
Duncan MacOwan, Head of New Media and Events, comments: “This was the first year the FESPA Awards programme was open to any print service provider, anywhere in the world, and we’re delighted by the volume and high quality of the entries. The FESPA Awards aim to inspire our community by showcasing print’s capabilities. This year’s theme for FESPA Digital is ‘Dive Deeper’ and that’s reflected in the Awards; they provide real-world examples of the opportunities that are available to printers if they explore the full creative scope of wide format print.
“We’re sure that the entries showcased will inspire printers who didn’t enter this year, giving them workable ideas that they can apply with their own customers. Next year’s Awards should be bursting with even more creative applications.”
FESPA Awards Judge, Mark Gervais, Director of Screen Print, Ningbo Shenzhou, comments: “The FESPA Awards are important because they give the industry a chance to showcase their best work and provide them with a chance toexercise their skills, knowledge and learning.” Awards Judge, Neil de Greef, Owner, Screenline, comments: “The FESPA Awards give you a lot of exposure in the industry, entrants are competing with the best in the world and customers will recognise that.”
The People’s Choice Award, as well as the winners from all Award categories, will be announced at the FESPA Awards Celebration Dinner taking place at Löwenbräu Keller, Munich on Thursday 22 May 2014. The Innovation Award, which is given to the entry which all judges agree offers the most outstanding example of innovation across all categories, will also be announced during the evening.
FESPA Digital 2014 visitors can book their place to attend the Awards Celebration Dinner here. The ticket price of €175 includes exclusive access to the Löwenbräu Keller for a cocktail reception, three-course dinner including drinks, entertainment, and party with live music.
The Celebration Dinner provides printers with the opportunity to meet with peers from around the world including shortlisted Awards entrants.
Visitors to FESPA Digital 2014 (20-23 May) will be able to see the shortlisted entries displayed in the Atrium of the Messe Munich. A gallery of the winning and highly commended work will then travel to FESPA’s regional exhibitions including Africa, Mexico, China, Turkey and Brazil, reaching a global audience.
Hall of Fame
Voting for the FESPA Hall of Fame Printer of the Year is also now open. FESPA’s annual Hall of Fame highlights noteworthy printers who are considered inspirational and have been nominated by their peers.
The print community can vote for one printer from each country from the nominated list. The Hall of Fame Printer of the Year will be announced during the FESPA Awards Celebration Dinner on 22 May, with the winner receiving VIP invitations to FESPA events, as well as discounts to all FESPA Summits and Conferences.
Duncan MacOwan concludes: “Inviting printers to vote for the People’s Choice Award and Hall of Fame brings our community together to talk about creativity and excellence, and encourages printers to share best practice with their peers. There are so many talented printers out there, and we feel that recognising this through our Awards is a great example of FESPA’s Profit for Purpose philosophy and a positive way of giving meaningful support to the global wide format print industry by showcasing the power of print.”
