Megalogos chooses Xeikon for the second time round
Monday 25. November 2013 - ICE toner opens up new opportunities to extend application range
Xeikon, an innovator in digital color printing technology, announces that last week Megalogos installed its second Xeikon 3030 in less than two years. This press will be running Xeikon’s new ICE toner for heat-sensitive materials. It will therefore double the company’s printing capacity as well as extending its range of applications.
Megalogos is located in Slovenj Gradec, a small town in northern Slovenia, near the Austrian border. Founded in 1994, the company has almost 20 years of extensive experience in design and print production. Having started out in graphic design and prepress services, the company gradually branched out into full-fledged print production. In recent years, Megalogos has shifted its focus entirely to label conversion. Under the brand name LabelProfi, a team of 12 employees offers comprehensive solutions for small to medium runs of high quality labels and flexible packaging.
Going digital was the right move
“Digital technology provides us with so many new ideas to serve our customers even better. Our team is very keen to develop new applications and to make the most of the possibilities digital production offers,” says Uro Slemenik, CEO at LabelProfi, who is convinced they made the right decision by moving into digital printing.
LabelProfi’s customers are extremely satisfied with the print quality and they appreciate the fast turnaround – something conventional print technology cannot offer. As Sales Manager Ale Golob puts it: “It’s easier to sell digitally produced labels because we have so much more to offer our customers. Flexible production, fast delivery times and unlimited variabilization possibilities are the keys to our success.”
Reflecting on their move into digital printing, Rok Nabernik, Head of Production, says: “It wasn’t difficult to switch from conventional to digital printing because on our Xeikon 3030 we can use almost any substrate we use on our conventional machines. We can also rely on our Xeikon 3030 to produce high print quality all the time.”
Quality, reliability and excellent support
“The decision to buy our first Xeikon 3030 was taken after careful consideration of all other digital options,” recalls Uro Slemenik. “We knew from the beginning that digital was the way forward and we opted for Xeikon because of the quality and reliability of its machines and the excellent support. It turned out to be a very good decision. In less than two years, the demand from our customers has increased by more than 50%, so we just had to buy a second machine.”
Like all Xeikon presses, the Xeikon 3030 boasts full rotary technology with variable repeat length, which means it has virtually no restrictions on repeat or image length and always prints at top speed, regardless of the number of colors used or the size of the labels. At a maximum speed of 9.6 m/min (31.5 ft/min) it achieves production volumes of up to 190 square meters/hour (294.5 MSI/hour). It prints on scalable substrate widths of 200 to 330 mm (7.9″ to 13.0″), handling a wide range of paper-based and synthetic substrates with weights of 40 to 350 gsm (27 lb text to 122 lb cover).
ICE toner opens up new applications
The new ICE toner was another reason for LabelProfi to choose for Xeikon once again as it opens up new opportunities. Jeroen Van Bauwel, Director Product Management at Xeikon, explains why this purchase both increases the company’s printing capacity and extends its application range: “Because our ICE toner offers exactly the same print quality and color gamut as our QA-I toner, they can run their existing applications on both presses. In addition, the new press will be used to print jobs on heat-sensitive substrates such as PE or thermal labels.”
True to its desire to seek ever new ways to serve its customers, LabelProfi is one of the first to use ICE toner
