2013 Naomi Berber Memorial Award honors Bonnie Blake
Friday 18. October 2013 - Printing Industries of America is pleased to announce that Bonnie Blake, clinical assistant professor, New York University, is the recipient of the 2013 Naomi Berber Memorial Award. This award honors outstanding women in the graphic communications industry for their exceptional record of accomplishments, unusual contributions toward the development of the graphic communications industry, and for having furthered the interests of the industry.
Bonnie currently serves full-time as a clinical assistant professor in New York University’s Master’s Program in Graphic Communication Management and Technology (GCMT), with an expanded faculty focus for students. Bonnie brings more than thirty years of extensive professional experience, along with her long-standing dedication to education and leadership in the graphic communications and media industries.
Having founded her highly celebrated advertising and promotion agency in 1982, she has extensive industry experience from both agency and client perspectives. Her clients have included AT&T, Forbes Magazine, PepsiCo, CNN, National Geographic Television, NBC, HarperCollins Publishers, BlakeGlobal, Lucent Technologies/Caribiner, Tishman Realty, Chic and H.I.S. Jeans, New York University, and Pitney Bowes/Zabit.
Serving as the GCMT program’s Academic Director for the past six years, she has been responsible for the success and growth of the overall program community, she directed curriculum development; recruited top students, faculty, and industry talent; and mentored students and alumni. She served as the program’s liaison to its forty-three-member Advisory Board and on the Curriculum, International, Program Initiatives, Prism Scholarship, Alumni, Marketing, and Career Guidance committees.She also served on the Education Committee of the Advertising Production Club board in New York.
Bonnie is a proud alumnus from the NYU M.A. in Graphic Communications Management and Technology, class of 1987. She was the recipient of the NYU PRISM Alumni Achievement Award for Graphic Excellence in 1993, sponsored by the Advisory Board. Bonnie has taught in the NYU Master’s program since 1989 and has advised students since 1995. She has received recognition from NY Women in Communications for supporting educational opportunities and membership. She graduated cum laude from Boston College/Newton College of the Sacred Heart on 1976 with a B.A. in History and a minor in Education.
Bonnie’s award will be presented at the 2013 Printing Industries of America Fall Administrative Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.
