Successful Performance by Muller Martini at LABELEXPO in Brussels
Tuesday 08. October 2013 - Offset Technology Gains in Importance in Packaging Printing
LABELEXPO Europe, the world’s largest trade fair for the labeling and packaging industry, confirmed the trend for offset technology in flexible packaging printing. Muller Martini stands to benefit, since it is ideally positioned in this segment with its variable size VSOP and Alprinta V printing presses.
“Numerous visitors and other exhibitors underlined the fact that offset technology is playing an increasingly important role in flexible packaging printing,” says Bernd Sauter, Managing Director of Muller Martini Printing Presses GmbH.
Web offset technology has numerous benefits for packaging printers: lower printing plate costs, diverse substrate options and a reduced environmental impact. Muller Martini illustrated these benefits to visitors using the VSOP and Alprinta V, both of which are variable size printing presses with many options for offset printing.
Printing Presses from Muller Martini Impress Visitors
Specialists from Muller Martini illustrated the special features of the VSOP printing press, which is one of the most impressive in its class, using a model of a VSOP printing unit with a scale of 1:3 at its booth at LABELEXPO. It enables simple and quick size changes in offset printing, since print sizes can be changed extremely easily without having to remove entire inserts thanks to sleeve technology, meaning this process is not only quick and simple, but also exceptionally cost effective for print lengths that change frequently.
The VSOP web printing press was developed for the production of labels, flexible packaging and cardboard. The Muller Martini inking system has been integrated into the VSOP to ensure first-class printing quality.
Inspiring Label and Packaging Samples
The wide range of innovative label and packaging samples from all over the world drew in visitors to the Muller Martini booth. The eye-catching array of samples in a shopping cart and in the sample lounge was much photographed. Visitors had the opportunity to learn from Muller Martini about special labels and flexible packaging made from a wide range of substrates and how they are produced using the Alprinta V and VSOP printing presses, and also be inspired by innovative product ideas.
The trade fair provided the chance for visitors to discuss new markets and visions and the opportunities they present in a relaxed environment. “We had a lot of interesting conversations at this year’s LABELEXPO,” says Sauter, taking stock of Muller Martini’s trade fair performance. “Now it’s all about following up on the visions with those concerned.”
