Atlantic Zeiser launches new DIGILINE Blister at Fachpack 2013
Friday 04. October 2013 - Inkjet printing solutions leader releases system for variable printing on blister lid foil
Atlantic Zeiser, a global solutions provider of dedicated personalization and coding systems, announces the release of DIGILINE Blister, a new inkjet-based variable data printing system for blister lid foil. Three versions will be made available: offline, near-line, and inline. The first – an offline system – will be demonstrated at Fachpack 2013 in Nuremburg, Germany, from September 24-26 (hall 3, stand 349).
“Applying Atlantic Zeiser’s history in inkjet printing technology and more than 50 years in product variable coding led to the development of the innovative DIGILINE Blister family,” said Helmut Schneider, Atlantic Zeiser Group Product Manager Packaging. “DIGILINE Blister is further enhanced by the addition of MedTracker, a database-driven software solution for track and trace and line management solutions that’s been used for years in a similar process in other high-security industry sectors.”
The DIGILINE Blister system’s native PDF resolution of 600 x 600 dpi is based on the latest inkjet technology. It adapts precisely to foil surface characteristics that can cause ink spreading and provides high-quality reproduction without missing dots due to scaling effects. Micro-fonts (even non-Latin characters) such as Chinese are printed completely and accurately. Smaller Data Matrix Codes can also be reproduced, making it possible to fit required information even on small blister pack sizes.
Because it features full and native PDF integration, DIGILINE Blister is an all-in-one device, with no external software or computer required. It offers a flexible workflow configuration without the need for programming – ideal for easy workflow adaptation. The system also allows short job change-over time compared to flexo printing technology, and can handle print widths up to 375 mm.
Atlantic Zeiser’s DIGILINE Blister family comprises 3 versions:
1) Offline; i.e. roll-to-roll production with no blister machine directly involved
2) Near-line version; i.e. printer module with included unwind unit behind the blister machine
3) Inline version; i.e. printer module integrated into the blister machine.
Because today’s typical production runs are short and becoming shorter, inkjet technology is the most effective method for variable blister lid foil printing. As a leader in the printing equipment industry, Atlantic Zeiser is targeting the pharmaceutical packaging market with a range of new products. In addition to DIGILINE Blister for foil printing, these products will address a variety of applications:
1) Carton encoding (DIGILINE Compact)
2) Booklet-label encoding dedicated for clinical studies (DIGILINE Booklet)
3) Database-supported tracking of pharmaceutical products (MEDTRACKER). This solution is based on one that is also successfully employed in the cosmetics encoding market.
