Finishing & Screen Printing
AB Print Group adds to its specialist finishing services with new binder and folder
Thursday 04. July 2013 - In a bid to extend its finishing services the AB Print Group in Batley, West Yorkshire, is purchasing a Eurobind EB 600 perfect binder and at the same time increase its folding capabilities with the purchase of a Stahlfolder KH 66.
On the company web site AB Print not only promotes its litho, digital and screen printing services but also its finishing because it’s a means of differentiating itself from the crowd. It offers in-line sealing, creasing and perforating as well as offline cut, crease, stitch and fold. But it goes beyond the standard with scratch’n’sniff fragrances, hot foil blocking, embossing, metallic latex scratch cards, UV varnishing and re-moist gumming. It works direct for end users, of course, but also takes in some trade work.
“We can see a growth in perfect binding applications, particularly for short run, higher pagination digitally printed work. Others don’t have perfect binding so we want it. The Eurobind 600 is an affordable and cost-effective model. We will run it with hot melt glue,” says director Alan Williamson.
The deal was finalised at the Heidelberg open house when Mr Williamson visited with Wayne Ferguson, the group logistics manager, and Richard Walmsley, director.
Both the EB 600 and the combination folder will be delivered in the autumn to give the company a boost in output.
“Although we run competitor equipment in prepress and press departments we like working with Heidelberg and their finishing kit suits our business needs. We work our machines hard. These will operate on double day shifts, five days a week,” says Mr Williamson.
