NewsWay plate sorting software goes live
Monday 17. June 2013 - ProImage Announces More Sales in Europe
As newspapers continue to invest in print production efficiency, New ProImage Limited has today announced new sales and upgrades to its workflow automation and control software across Europe.
Through its business partner ABB Printing, ProImage’s new NewsWay plate sorting software has been implemented at Allgaeuer Zeitungsverlag in Kempten, Germany.
This intelligent software pre-sorts plates according to each product’s production run and sends them to the CTP machines in that order. The sorter software allows users to assign press slots to bins, automatically or manually release production runs based on print schedules, and monitor the status of the plate bins during production. It also provides users with the estimated completion time.
The ProImage software enables this across multiple CTPs ensuring optimum throughput.
The newspaper uses Kodak CTP machines and NELA plate sorting and punch bending equipment as well as the MAN Roland APL (Auto Plate Loader). With the plate sorting software Allgaeuer Zeitungsverlag is able produce the plates for each product already sorted in any order as required by the press production team.
Also in Europe De Persgroep in the Netherlands has upgraded to the latest NewsWay version that includes the optimization of plate sorting and support for Windows 2008 64 bit and Windows 7. It also incorporates a number of valuable new features. These include the capability to highlight version changes to the same page and a tool to enable customers to upload files directly into their print edition, saving time.
The new version also provides image analysis that enables changes between versions of the same page to be highlighted, potential overprint problems to be caught, and last minutes changes to be quickly verified prior to plate making.
Other new orders received for NewsWay include those from Neue Zuricher Zeitung in Germany and from Maine Media Today in the United States.
