SHAX RIEGLER PROMOTED TO EXECUTIVE EDITOR OF HOUSE BEAUTIFUL
Monday 10. June 2013 - Shax Riegler has been named executive editor of House Beautiful, it was announced today by Newell Turner, editorial director, Hearst Design Group (ELLE DECOR, House Beautiful and VERANDA). Riegler has been articles editor of Hearst Design Group since October 2012, and prior to that was features editor of House Beautiful, since August 2010. The appointment, which is a promotion to a newly created position, is effective immediately. Riegler continues to report to Turner, who is also editor in chief of House Beautiful.
“With his sharp eye and deep knowledge of decoration and design, Shax has been an invaluable member of the House Beautiful team,” Turner said. “There’s no better editor to work with me to lead the magazine.”
Before joining House Beautiful in 2010, Riegler was a frequent contributor to numerous magazines, including House Beautiful; he wrote Dish: 813 Colorful, Wonderful Dinner Plates, an anthology and history of dinnerware; and was enrolled full-time at the Bard Graduate Center, where he is now a candidate for a PhD in the history of design and the decorative arts. Previously, he was features editor of House & Garden from 2001 to 2004, and before that, he was articles editor of Martha Stewart Living and associate editor of Travel & Leisure. He began his career in magazines at Vogue. Riegler is a 1992 graduate of Kenyon College with a bachelor’s in English and history.
