Monday 27. May 2013 - New 32-Page Sunday 3000 press will complement 64-page Sunday 4000 press in Mexico

Following installation of a 64-page Sunday 4000 web press in 2011, Litografia Magno Graf will add a Sunday 3000 system at its facility in Puebla, Mexico, later this year.
The new four-unit press with a 2×8 cylinder configuration and a 75-inch web width will be capable of printing more than 3 million magazine-size pages per hour. Magno Graf produces a wide range of books, magazines, catalogs and commercial products for customers throughout Mexico. The company has been an innovative leader in the graphic arts industry in Mexico for 42 years.
“We were able to break out beyond traditional 16-page web offset production, differentiate ourselves from competitors, and grow our business considerably with the addition of the 64-page Goss press,” explains Magno Graf general director Sergio Villanueva. “A second wide-web Sunday press will allow us to continue this progress.”
Goss International will equip the Sunday 3000 press at Magno Graf with a Contiweb FD paster, Ecoset dryer and QPL semi-automatic plate changing. Pinless Goss combination and former folders will allow Magno Graf to optimize product format and pagination options. The 32-page press format and the former folder, for example, will allow two 16-page signatures to be produced simultaneously at a combined rate of 200,000 signatures per hour.
“We evaluated various two-pages-around and four-pages-around press models from multiple suppliers,” Villanueva explains. “The 32-page Sunday 3000 system was the best option for us, based on productivity, makeready speed, low waste and compatibility with our existing 64-page press.”
Goss International sales manager Leonardo Clavijo says the Sunday press projects with Magno Graf validate that Goss products and support capabilities are exactly aligned with the requirements of printers. “The needs of our customers in Latin America and throughout the world are shifting in response to media and economic challenges,” according to Clavijo. “The wide Sunday presses at Magno Graf are another example of how our products deliver competitive advantages as well as the proven reliability and operability advantages our customers need in order to be successful.”
Goss International is working closely with its representative in Mexico, Rotaweb, headed by Mauricio Guerra, on the new project with Magno Graf.
