The Magazine Printing Company changes folder supplier
Tuesday 16. April 2013 - "I'd like to convert all our equipment to Heidelberg," says Tony Stokes, managing director of The Magazine Printing Company who is complimentary about the service and support provided by the Brentford-based supplier.
The Magazine Printing Company, Enfield, is currently replacing one of three Shoei folders with a pallet fed Stahlfolder KH66.
“We believe we will get at least 10% more productivity, greater machine reliability and the security of Heidelberg’s back up if anything goes wrong,” says Mr Stokes.
The folders operate 24 hours a day, handling about 280 specialist magazines, weeklies and monthlies, with an average print run of 5,000.
Tony Stokes set up the company 41 years ago. Now at the age of 72 he still remains passionate about the company and after returning a profitable balance sheet for 2012, is heartened that the company is ahead of budget in the first quarter of 2013.
It has three eight-colour and a five-colour UV Speedmaster SM 74s and comprehensive finishing kit, including a ten-station saddle-stitcher and 16-station perfect binder, along with in-house mailing facilities. This enables MPC to provide publishers with an all-inclusive, in-house service for very fast turnaround of overnight weekly magazines.
The KH66 is ideal for the standard 16 x A5/B5 and 8 x A4/B4 section work that The Magazine Printing Company produces as standard. This is a universal combination folder capable in the pallet fed version of handling work from 14 x 18mm to 66 x 104mm at 50,000 cycles an hour.
The Magazine Printing Company regularly invests to keep its equipment up with technology and productivity standards, necessary in today’s keen market place.
