Five Castles takes a second Speedmaster XL 75-5
Wednesday 27. March 2013 - Five Castles Press has replaced a six year old Speedmaster CD 74 with the latest top of the range Heidelberg B2 press, a Speedmaster XL75-5 five-colour.
“We replace equipment frequently and keep our presses in tip top order to ensure we run at maximum productivity with minimum risk of breakdown. We always look at other manufacturer but always come back to Heidelberg because we have no desire to change,” says Robert Burnett, managing director of Five Castles Press in Ipswich.
The company runs three presses, two Speedmaster XL 75-5s and a Speedmaster SM 52-5. The fifth unit on each is primarily use to seal, enabling work to be moved straight into finishing without fear of marking and to give work a more aesthetic look and better feel.
“Having common sized plates on the two XLs does make it easy to transfer work across as needed, giving us additional flexibility,” added production manager Graham Gould.
The company has also added a new Stahlfolder TH66, which has replaced two older folders yet given a net improvement in throughput, thanks to its significantly increased automation over its predecessors.
“We invest in our equipment and also our staff because our emphasis is on offering the very best service to our customers, whether they are ordering business cards or fine art brochure. Part of that pledge is about being reliable and with Heidelberg we know we are working with equipment that produces good quality at high productivity. It would hard to move away from them,” says Mr Burnett.
