The latest version of PrintMe Mobile also enables IT to track mobile printing usage in job accounting software, such as Equitrac Office and Express, GoPrint, PaperCut, Print Audit, and Sepialine Argos. In addition, PrintMe Mobile now supports payment systems, such as VendPrint, creating a new opportunity for mobile printing in coin-operated printing environments. The new PrintMe Mobile software offers Windows laptop and Windows 8 tablet users the ability to print regardless of location within a company. A full version of PrintMe Mobile 2.4 software is available for download and a free 45-day trial.
“Whether employees are using their work computer, a personal computer, a tablet or a smartphone, they expect to be able to conduct basic business functions from these devices. Where BYOD becomes a challenge is when IT has to step in and support a function such as printing from these mobile devices,” shared Darin Stahl, Lead Research Analyst, Info-Tech Research Group. “Enabling mobile printing in an enterprise environment that consists of various printers is often a challenge for IT due to multiple operating systems and variables in printer hardware. One of the leaders in the mobile print space is EFI with its PrintMe Mobile solution. The latest version offers an on-premises printing solution that connects to the existing print infrastructures and makes it easy for IT to control printers and customise the solution for their needs.”
According to a recent TechNavio report, the most requested feature in mobile devices, such as iPhones and iPads, is the print feature. As the demand for mobile printing increases, organisations looking to implement solutions need effortless and flexible tools to manage dozens of printers throughout an enterprise. PrintMe Mobile provides this solution with Wi-Fi mobile printing in mixed OS environments, common in today’s enterprises. The software’s new powerful user interface allows IT to easily diagnose issues in real-time and to see all licensed printers in one location, making the management of an organisation’s print infrastructure easy and efficient.
“We are constantly looking at the latest technology that will enhance our infrastructure to benefit the thousands of teachers and students in our school district. We identified mobile printing as an opportunity to do just that,” said Robert J. Gravina, Chief Information and Technology Officer, Poway Unified School District in San Diego, California, U.S. “After reviewing various products on the market, we chose EFI’s PrintMe Mobile because it provided a way to centrally manage our printers without the need to buy new hardware. With the latest release, PrintMe Mobile will make it even easier for us to administer the more than 100 existing printers we have enabled for mobile printing throughout the district.”
“Poway Unified School District is the perfect example of how PrintMe Mobile can be used in a variety of environments, such as education, to enable mobile printing,” said John Henze, vice president of Fiery marketing for EFI. “Our software now allows IT departments to quickly view, configure and address challenges in enterprises with multiple brands of printers, making it simple and less time-consuming for IT administrators so that they can turn their attention to other critical job functions.”
