Heidelberg business areas under new leadership

Thursday 24. January 2013 - Stefan Hasenzahl heads up the new "Very Large Format and Postpress Packaging" business area; Jason Oliver is new head of "Digital Printing"

Since early 2013, Stefan Hasenzahl (50) has been in charge of the newly founded “Very Large Format and Postpress Packaging” business area at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). This unit pools all the company’s activities associated with the large-format Speedmaster XL 145 and XL 162 presses and postpress systems for the packaging printing sector.
At the same time, Jason Oliver (42) has been appointed head of “Digital Printing” at Heidelberg and is now responsible for all the company’s Linoprint systems for the commercial and packaging printing sectors. He is taking over from Dr. Christian Compera, who left the company at the end of the year at his own request.
Stefan Hasenzahl had previously been responsible for establishing the Chinese manufacturing site operated by Heidelberg in Qingpu near Shanghai, which he ran until summer 2012. Before taking up his new role, Hasenzahl managed an internal strategy project at Heidelberg headquarters. He has been working at Heidelberg since graduating in engineering in 1988.
Jason Oliver joined Heidelberg from a U.S. digital print supplier, where he was last responsible for global sales of digital inkjet printing systems. In his new role, he will be responsible for the successful expansion of the digital business. Oliver is a U.S. citizen and studied in Paderborn and Lawrence, Kansas (U.S.), where he gained a Master of Business Administration. He has held numerous executive positions for various North American and European digital printing companies since 2000.
“We have gained two executives with international experience for areas that are of great strategic importance to Heidelberg. Stefan Hasenzahl played a key role in the successful establishment of our manufacturing site in Qingpu. Jason Oliver is an expert in digital printing systems and in selling these products worldwide. The appointment of these two executives underlines the commitment Heidelberg has made to the large format and packaging printing / digital printing business areas. It also carries forward our program of expansion in these areas,” explains Stephan Plenz, Member of the Management Board responsible for Heidelberg Equipment.
