The French print shops Baron & Fils (Baron) and Monterrain each recently invested in a Linoprint C 751 from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg).
The 13-strong team at the Baron commercial print shop in Clichy-sur-Seine is using a digital printing system to augment its portfolio. By installing a Linoprint C 751 from Heidelberg, the company is now also able to produce short, high-quality personalized runs extremely quickly. Baron’s Managing Director Florent Sylvestre invested in the Linoprint C 751 above all to make the print shop more flexible. The new digital printing system processes the same types of paper as the company’s offset presses. “We only need to manage one stock of materials, which greatly simplifies our material procurement processes and improves our speed of response. The print results are flawless and the media-dependent calibration of the Linoprint C 751 ensures perfect pull quality,” says Sylvestre.
Based in Cluses, Monterrain also decided on a Linoprint C 751 from Heidelberg at drupa 2012 in Düsseldorf. “The new press enables us to meet the rising demand for short runs and process jobs in-house that we previously had to outsource. Our quick response times and the high quality of our products are confirmed by the extremely positive feedback from our customers,” explains print shop owner Patrick Monterrain.
Productivity, reliability, and quality in data processing with Prinect Digital Print Manager
Since drupa, Heidelberg has been supplying all Linoprint C systems with the new Prinect Digital Print Manager. This enables the presses to be seamlessly integrated into the Prinect print shop workflow. As a result, the two French print shops can switch flexibly between offset and digital production depending on the job in hand, produce print products using a combination of the two methods or, for example, use the most cost-effective printing process for advance runs, main production runs or reprints.
Baron was founded in Paris in 1924 and merged with Seval in 2000. At the production facility of its sister company Edigraf in Verona, Italy, Baron processes large formats of 100 x 140 centimeters (39.37 x 55.12 inches) and 120 x 160 centimeters (47.24 x 62.99 inches) with a gold embossing and kiss-cutting unit. The eco-friendly company has been granted the Imprim’Vert and EnVol labels. In 2009, it joined forces with a Spanish rotary print shop to extend its portfolio.
Monterrain has also been awarded the Imprim’Vert label and mainly uses recycled paper and FSC/PEFC-certified substrates. The company has a six-strong workforce and works closely with Imprimerie Nouvelle in Sallanches. Monterrain takes on all kinds of print jobs and most of its customers come from the local area.
