Bournemouth Colour Press preserves its rollers with RO units
Monday 19. November 2012 - Bournemouth Colour Press has installed a technotrans alpha.r 3 reverse osmosis system to achieve standardised water pH and conductivity for its dampening solution.
“This system is for our new Speedmaster XL 75-5 and the reason we are buying it is quite simple,” says Carl Fleischer, managing director. “We had never used one until our last press purchase four years ago and we could not believe how it preserved the rollers. We used to replace them every 18 months. But after four years and 90 million impressions the rollers were still in great condition. For an investment of about £4,000 we have certainly got our money back and also benefitted from better and predictable quality.”
Bournemouth Colour is in a hard water area and has a single water supplier.
“The alpha.r 3 requires minimal maintenance, just the occasional filter change and these cost a negligible amount,” says Mr Fleisher. “Technotrans is very good; the service is brilliant. We have a 12 month warranty with our new reverse osmosis system but to be honest these units hardly ever go wrong. Technotrans service is brilliant anyway,” says Mr Fleischer.
Bournemouth Colour Press produces a wide range of commercial work and has both litho and digital services.
