Prestige Press replaces fire destroyed guillotine with Polar 66
Thursday 11. October 2012 - A company whose premises were gutted by fire and its equipment destroyed in February says that it is getting closer to "business as usual". The consideration of another printer and the extremely hard work of its six staff (sometimes hand finishing work that was previously done by machine) means that Prestige Press has got through its crisis without losing a single client.
Its building in Chesham has been completely rebuilt and this month it is taking delivery of a Polar 66 guillotine.
“Our 20 year old Polar guillotine had given us no trouble and only ever had one minor repair. That reliability meant that it was never in doubt that we would replace it with another Polar. We didn’t even look at another make,” says Stuart Finn, managing director.
Mr Finn and his father had been in the building about an hour before the fire and given the ferociousness of the blaze they had a lucky escape. Both are hugely grateful to neighbouring print company Ink Link which gave Prestige Press a corner in its premises to fit a digital press and keep going. Ink Link handled the litho work for Prestige.
“We have always built our business on service and quality and over the past few months we have worked hard to ensure customers continued to be well looked after. Indeed, amazingly, March was a record month,” says Mr Finn.
The company plans to focus more on wide format and digital in future. Mr Finn believes that by 1 November, even if all its equipment is not in. it will have been ordered and the company can look towards the future, better equipped and with an even better understanding of its strengths and the reasons for its strong customer loyalty.
