Tagesspiegel is live with magazine production on Atex Content

Tuesday 02. October 2012 - · Integrated with Adobe InDesign, ClassWizard and two advertising systems · Successful production launch with 'Berlin Maximal' magazine

German publisher Tagesspiegel-Gruppe is live on Atex Content for magazine production. The Atex system provides powerful tools to enable the group to enhance the value of its content, reduce operating costs and develop stronger relationships with its customers.
Der Tagesspiegel is one of Berlin’s largest daily newspapers. This latest launch represents an expansion of the publisher’s Atex Content system to include its magazine titles. With Atex, the Tagesspiegel group was able to improve its production capabilities with the speed and flexibility required in a highly competitive market. The Atex system enables the publisher to react quickly to changing business needs, to implement new products in short timeframes, to guarantee efficient production, and to integrate Adobe InDesign for layout and design.
Tagesspiegel selected Atex Content as the group’s central content management system for all print products, including newspapers, inserts and magazines. Atex Content offers a centralised production workflow, with Adobe InDesign for editorial page make-up and production, as well as ClassWizard for object planning and advertising page assembly. The Atex solution supports all of the key functionality for magazine publishing, including support for multi-page documents and integrated workflow with the advertising order entry and production system.
All authors, editors and creative staff for magazine titles are now able to work collaboratively in the integrated Atex system, giving editors the opportunity to access content through one system with centralised production control. With this investment, Tagesspiegel has established the technical basis for its cross-media production via different print and online channels.
Marco Felten, IT and Productions Manager of Tagesspiegel, comments, “Quick, easy and flexible ways to react to the permanent changes in an evolving market and a well controlled production across all products, are the criteria we need to focus in the Berlin market. That’s why we decided on the combination of Atex, Adobe and ClassWizard – and we have done well with it.”
Franz Fleck, General Manager at Atex Germany, adds, “For Atex, the magazine project at Tagesspiegel is an important extension to our partnership. It proved that the Atex system is well positioned to produce not only newspapers, but also magazines in a highly efficient manner.”
Der Tagesspiegel is scheduled to move the production of its other magazines to the new platform. The next product will be ‘030’ – a magazine for the Berlin market, which offers an extensive event calendar and reports about night life, music, fashion and restaurants.
