TEKLYNX and Epson Team up to Offer Turnkey Solution for GHS Compliant Chemical Labeling

Thursday 06. September 2012 - TEKLYNX International, the world's leading developer of barcode labeling software solutions, announced today that it has teamed up with Epson America, Inc., a global leader of innovative printing and imaging technologies, to offer a turnkey solution for Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) compliant chemical labeling.

Together, Epson’s TM-C3400 inkjet printer (which prints color, on-demand labels onto prescribed durable media from Neenah) and TEKLYNX software (which allows for the identification, design and tracking of hazardous labels), offer a completely GHS compliant turnkey solution. This solution ensures compliance for chemical manufacturers, while eliminating the time consuming task of identifying multi-vendor, compatible GHS-compliant components.
On March 26, 2012 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced its plans to adopt the GHS labeling standard for the American market with the first steps of implementation beginning in 2013. For chemical manufacturers, an automated way to print color, on-demand labels onto extremely durable media, as well as a software solution that allows for the design and management of the labels, will significantly assist in complying with GHS requirements. The Epson printer paired exclusively with the Neenah media, along with TEKLYNX CENTRAL GHS software, allows customers to benefit from a complete labeling solution for identifying hazardous materials.
The TEKLYNX CENTRAL GHS software solution is designed to help companies meet industry mandates for label security and traceability with the ability to modify labels, view reports and print on-demand from virtually anywhere in the world.
“After successfully launching our CENTRAL GHS labeling software last year, we wanted to further support our customers and knew they would benefit from having a complete solution for their compliance needs,” said Laura Henderson, Managing Director of TEKLYNX Americas. “When resellers combine Epson’s durable color printing equipment with our specialized software, meeting the requirements of this international standard becomes significantly easier.”
Epson’s TM-C3400 inkjet printer, used exclusively with Neenah KIMDURA Ink Jet for Harsh Environments media, recently achieved International Maritime Dangerous Goods BS 5609 certification. This is a key standard for GHS compliance that confirms the rugged durability of the label produced by this turnkey solution. The durability testing to achieve certification included adhesive performance, print performance and abrasion resistance. Epson’s patented MicroPiezo Inkjet Technology print heads ensure precise control over the ink, which allows impressive text and image quality to be printed at speeds up to 3.7″ per second.
“Over the next few years, GHS compliance will be a major priority for companies who manufacture and ship hazardous materials,” said Mike Helm, Director of Sales for Epson America’s Business Systems Division. “Epson is dedicated to developing the right solutions for this market, and we are looking forward to working with companies like Teklynx to offer complementary chemical labeling solutions, from global leaders in the labeling market.”
On September 19, 2012, TEKLYNX and Epson will host a complimentary webinar focusing on GHS labeling requirements and a solution for achieving compliance.
