Bayliss boosts its cutting capability with larger format guillotine
Thursday 16. August 2012 - Bayliss Design & Print is investing in a Polar 115 to marry up with its move from an SRA2 to an SRA1 print format. The company is replacing a seven year older Polar 76 with the latest generation Polar 115 which will be more flexible and make cutting the larger sheets much easier.
“We have had two Polars before, a 92cm machine which lasted 20 years and the 76cm model which we’ve had for seven years. There are many reasons for choosing Polar, including its popularity and good resale value and, in addition, Heidelberg’s back up,” says Alan Johnson, managing director.
The new guillotine will be delivered this month. Although the pressroom runs a 12 hour day, the finishing operation runs a shorter standard day plus overtime as required. However, the company has enjoyed a busy period with sales up 30% in the past 12 months, and if volumes continue to increase it could envisage extending the length of the finishing shift eventually.
Bayliss Design & Print attributes 70% of its work to business from a 50 mile radius of its Worksop plant but it handles a good volume of trade work and does deliver nationwide.
