Lenovo makes color calibration of its ThinkPad W530 Mobile Workstation easy and convenient with X-Rite/Pantone technology
Monday 13. August 2012 - Built-in color calibrator from X-Rite helps to make the ThinkPad W530 an ideal choice for pre-media, designers, and photographers who want accurate rendering of colors
Lenovo Group (HKSE: 992) (ADR:LNVGY) is harnessing proprietary technology developed by X-Rite, Incorporated in its new ThinkPad W530 mobile workstation to give graphics professionals an easy and convenient method to accurately render colors on the computer display.
The Pantone Color Calibrator by X-Rite that is built directly into the workstation eliminates the need for graphics professionals to use plug-in instruments and additional applications to properly calibrate and profile their displays for demanding color management workflow projects.
Users can have their displays accurately calibrated and profiled based on different color temperatures and gamma specifications with just a few clicks. For instance, users can define whether they want colors to be rendered under D50, D65 or D75 standard illuminations and use several gamma specifications settings for an accurate matching of how images look on the display versus other media.
“Our customers expect exceptional computing power and cutting-edge innovations from Lenovo products, and we’ve delivered on those expectations with the W530 ThinkPad mobile workstation,” said Tom Butler, director, ThinkPad Business Unit, Lenovo. “By working with X-Rite to provide the Pantone Color Calibrator as a key innovation, we’re giving customers the highest screen quality and color accuracy in a mobile workstation.”
The Pantone Color Calibrator is one of several features that Lenovo built into its W-Series ThinkPad mobile workstation with an eye to give users a highly mobile workhorse with the power, performance and battery life necessary to take on demanding graphics-intensive projects. The W530 ThinkPad with a 15.6″ screen and ports to connect four other displays can be configured with Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, full HD wide-angle viewing with 1920 X 1080 screen resolution and 95% color gamut, up to 32 GB of internal RAM, dual hard drives, internal RAID, and the latest NVIDIA Quadro K1000 or K2000 dedicated graphics.
The Pantone Color Calibrator works with the mobile workstation’s operating system to create a profile of the computer’s monitor that can be viewed through a color management control panel. Early adopters have given this feature high marks as a time saver for automating the color adjustments to the computer monitor and as a method to accurately render colors as they will appear in different media. With the latest ECCM-2 color detection sensor from X-Rite, the Pantone Color Calibrator is the only system of its kind that calibrates the display without external peripherals or software.
