Broadley makes alcohol free production easier with a filtration unit
Tuesday 07. August 2012 - Reduced fount solution costs and minimal maintenance time coupled with an improvement in overall print quality are the benefits Harry Broadley & Sons is experiencing following installation of the alpha.f dampening solution filtration system from technotrans.
“We are running our Komori Lithrone 528 alcohol free and this requires controlled ink-water balance. That is achieved with the alpha.f which has extended the life of the fount and improved the sharpness of the dot. We will run for months without having to change the filters or do any maintenance work to it. It’s just there,” says Andrew Broadley, managing director.
“We looked at other ancillary suppliers but the technotrans unit is more robust and our previous experience with technotrans was convincing.”
Harry Broadley & Sons supplies A3 to B2 print in one- to six-colour applications nationwide and into Europe. It very recently undertook a prepaid order from Greece.
The company plans to invest in a new Speedmaster SM 52-4 which is being supplied with temperature controlled chiller rollers manufactured by technotrans. This will replace a two colour model and run alongside the Lithrone 528 and a GTO 46-2.
The alpha. f is part of a family of filtration systems supplied by technotrans. It decontaminates the dampening solution and keeps the system from the dampening solution tank to the trays in the printing units clear and clean.
