Potter & Moore Innovations Ltd chooses Linx CJ400 after successful trial

Friday 27. July 2012 - A long-established UK personal care company is to buy two Linx CJ400 continuous ink jet printers after a successful trial on its production line.

Potter & Moore Innovations Ltd was founded more than 250 years ago and is renowned for its classic bath and beauty products.
The company has been trialling Linx CJ400s to print codes onto a variety of different sized plastic bottles containing shampoo, foam bath and talcum powder, using Linx T551 Black high speed ink.
The printhead prints upwards onto the base of the PP/PE bottles and codes a single line batch code, with lines running for up to 80 hours per week.
The Linx CJ400 has also demonstrated that it is completely capable of maintaining reliable, clean running in the dusty environment of the talcum powder lines.
Potter & Moore Innovations Ltd needs to move printers between different lines. The Linx CJ400’s 13.5kg weight makes it easy to carry, while its ability to store messages for up to four lines was another key factor in the decision. As a result Potter & Moore Innovations Ltd has confirmed it is to purchase two of the machines, replacing technology from a competitor manufacturer.
The Linx CJ400 was launched to the market in summer 2011 and represents a major development for the coding and marking industry. It offers customers three-month intervals between printhead cleaning and is the most portable CIJ printer available.
The Linx Easi-Change Service Module can be changed in minutes using on-screen prompts. This means scheduled maintenance is easily completed without the need for a trained technician or costly service calls. On-screen trouble shooting can solve the majority of operating issues without the need to consult manuals or engineers.
The module contains all relevant serviceable parts in an easily removable box, with no wires or pipes to disconnect and reconnect, and no need to expose other critical printer components during servicing. There are no electronic components to replace when the module is changed, reducing cost and waste.
The three-month printhead cleaning intervals offer a huge reduction on cleaning costs and downtime. The Linx CJ400’s 62 micron printhead nozzle saves up to 40 per cent ink usage compared to other CIJ printers. Solvent consumption is also reduced by up to 33 per cent.
One-step set-up is assured thanks to an easy to use colour touch screen, whose simple prompts enable users to start coding straight away. The same system offers step-by-step message creation and editing without requiring any complicated manuals or training. Mistake proof refills with SureFill fluid identification prevents expensive damage caused by the use of incorrect inks and solvents.
