Stahlfolder fits the Selsey bill

Wednesday 25. July 2012 - Selsey Press has replaced a Shoei folder with a Stahlfolder KH78. The need for a newer model which could handle larger formats and an increased volume of print produced by another recently added five-colour press were the motivating factors behind this buying decision.

Director David Lamdin explains: “We were open-minded on the make but we liked the quality of the Stahlfolder. We went to Germany to see the machine and talked extensively to people in the field, gathering feedback before making a decision. We have had Heidelberg equipment already and we know how good their service back up is and that too was convincing.”
The KH 78 has been installed alongside a retained MB folder. The decision to purchase a combination machine was because Selsey Press handles quite a lot of section work. It has a saddle-stitcher in house.
In addition to the new folder the company has also added a Polar Transomat downloader to one of its guillotines. The company already had a stacklift and jogger but knew that the Transomat would increase throughput. It also handles a particular contract which involved heavy lifting of the trimmed product and so there was a perceived Health & Safety benefit with this purchase as well.
Selsey Print was set up in 1963 by David Lamdin’s uncle and grandfather who worked until he was 95. His uncle is now the managing director and a total of five of the family remain in the business which offers commercial print nationwide with some export as well.
